Walk to End Alzheimer’s Thousands of people showed up for Saturday’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, held at the Oregon Zoo. Our four team members got there in time to enjoy the dozens of booths available to peruse, including free food and coffee! Before the actual walk, speakers shared pertinent details with the crowd. One such detail was the amount of money raised in advance of the event, $465,000! When it was over we laughed and commented that the walk to get to and from the location where the booths were set up was longer than the “Walk” for the cause. The “Walk” took those participating through zoo exhibits and through beautifully light-sculpture decorated corridors.

Thank you to Cedar Hills Kiwanis for organizing the Lazy Days dine and donate for the Coats for Kids cause. It’s the season when our club also focuses on supporting this initiative. Check your email messages. Our president, Bob Munger, has sent you a link for donating, if you wish. In addition, our club will be donating $200 to help children in need stay warmer this winter.
Sherwood Key Clubbers provided the program. Two of them explained about the activities of the club, and the LTG shared details about what is happening on the division level.
Thursday’s SLP Activities • At the Key Club meeting they were honored to receive a $400 from the Tigard Kiwanis for the funds they raised while doing face painting at three different Tigard Farmer’s Markets. They also started decorating their “Random Acts of Kindness Clothespins”. These will be distributed during Key Club Week in early November. Finally, the Key Club LTG gave a presentation. (The officers also posed for a group shot.)
• At the Builders Club meeting they worked hard to get ready for the school’s Freaky Friday event, (where they will raise money for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF by selling “Ghost Pops”). They also decorated pumpkins for the school’s October hallway display.
They made 74 Ghost Pops, (in the basket), and decorated 7 pumpkins (5 shown here).

If you could read this, and the next page… you will be more likely to win some of our FABULOUS game show prizes! And, besides, you are supposed to read these pages ANYWAY!
If this, and the previous page, are too hard to read, don’t despair… you’ll be receiving an email copy in the next couple of days… which should be easier on the eyes! Don’t forget… EVERY Kiwanis member is asked to absorb this information
