May 9th was a perfectly beautiful day for flower deliveries. Thank you to the 12 members who participated and made this service project/fundraiser a success for our club. Delivering the flowers for Valentine’s and Mother’s Days has become a club service tradition that is the most lucrative fundraiser we now do. We are paid $8 per delivery. Bringing in over $2000 for 2-3 days of work helps us to maintain a strong budget to support the causes we care about.
Thank you to the Sherwood Key Club for organizing a book drive and bringing to our Wednesday Kiwanis meeting approximately 300 books, (which they gave to us), so that we can turn around and give them to the Community Partners for Affordable Housing.
• Five Key Clubbers from Sherwood High School attended our Kiwanis meeting last Wednesday evening. Two of them brought the books collected for the book drive. All of them shared a bit about their officer responsibilities, (as all 5 are officers on the current Board). Two of them shared their Key Club International competitive project, the club’s 2025-26 digital scrapbook.
• He got lucky… he didn’t have to wear the usual birthday hat! But at Wednesday’s meeting we did get to sing “Happy Birthday” to George Deibert, who informed us that he turned 70 on May 8th .
Thank you to Christie for doing all the preliminary work to make it possible for the students to assemble gifts for the Sherwood Middle School staff.
• 5 members are signed up to help at the Sunday Parkways event happening on May 17th . We’ll be stationed near Spring Green Park.
Our presenter for the May 20th lunchtime meeting will be John Flaherty, the Pacific Northwest District Governor! Show up to Murrayhill Taphouse at 11:45 a.m.
• The Kiwanis meeting will end shortly after 1:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m. we have been invited to a joint service project with our SLPs (Service Leadership Programs… that’s Key Club & Builders Club), to do an Adopt-A-Road street clean-up. Meet in front of Sherwood Middle School and plan for about one hour of work.
That same evening, join us at the Beach Hut Deli in Tigard, before 6:00 p.m., to support the Foundation for Tigard-Tualatin Schools in a fun evening of Bingo. Remember to bring $16 to play, and also bring whatever funds you want to use to purchase food and drinks at the deli.
