Kids Need Kiwanis
At camp, individuals get a chance to experience freedom from their caregivers for a week and participate in activities that might otherwise not be available to them. They get to go to a place where everyone is focused on their abilities rather than their disabilities.
MHKC Needs Our Help
We are looking for volunteers to travel to Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp in or a Saturday. Even a few hours of our help can make a HUGE impact for the campers and staff. They’re looking for people to jump in and help keep camp running smoothly this summer. Whether you can help serve meals, welcome campers, assist groups, or lend an extra set of hands they would LOVE to have you at camp. George is working on setting up specific dates for us to travel there. He has volunteered to drive one car, but we may need at least one more driver! If you are interested in helping with this worthwhile project, please put your name on the sign-up sheet we’ll pass around at our evening meeting this week.

• Did you know that Sunday Parkways is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente? All along the route they post signs with interesting “Thrive Facts”. This one was right next to Sue’s assigned street! One of the fun moments during the day was hearing a young daughter tell her mom, as they biked by, that she should eat more coconut! (Mom did not take that comment well!)
Thank you to Bob and Judy M., Robby, George and Sue who helped at this past Sunday Parkways. Between this event, and the one in Southwest Portland held in May, we have made $330 for club use. The next Sunday Parkways is on August 2nd. It will probably be our last opportunity this year to raise money via this means, (as the final Sunday Parkways is on the same day as the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp Walk, Roll & Stroll). We planned our club budget hoping to make approximately the same amount from this activity as we made last year. It would be nice to meet that goal, but if we are to do so, we will need approximately ten people to sign up for the August 2nd date.

Tuesday Night Market
Last Tuesday, Sue & George worked a shift at the market… listened to the music and enjoyed the fair-like atmosphere of people having a good time!
Wednesday’s Lunchtime Meeting
Just look at that line-up of the “Family Munger”! It was fun to see Robby (grandson), Judy, Robyn (daughter), and Sean (son), all attending the meeting… with Bob presiding! For the program, Jaclynn shared some of her European trip experiences.

• You would be done by 6:45 p.m. and can then enjoy the 8 blocks of market music, vendor booths and car show!

• What would you be doing?
o Recording grocery weigh-ins
o Re-packaging and taping up damaged goods
• The same person doesn’t have to work both days

• There is a table set up in the King City Grocery Outlet for a food drive (ends 7/31)
• They are asking for volunteers to staff it
• Volunteers can pick shift hours at their convenience
• Volunteers will help build awareness of the campaign with GO shoppers as they walk by the table
• Half page info flyers will be provided
• For the shoppers, a $5 donation made at check-out will earn them a $5 coupon to be used on their next shopping trip
• Any amount is appreciated, (and donors receive $5 coupons for each $5 they give to the cause)
