FTTS Bingo Night On Wednesday, four members went to the Foundation for TigardTualatin Schools Bingo Night at the Beach Hut Deli in downtown Tigard. The weather cooperated for a pleasant evening at their outside patio. The theme of the evening was “Summer Pool Party” and they had sunglasses and other pool party supplies on each table, including bubble blowing bottles and wands… which we took advantage of… They also took a break at one point, giving us ice cream sandwiches! It was a “winning” evening for our group! $16 purchased cards for six games. Our members won three of those games! Our first winner was Karen who picked a theme basket with lots of great goodies. Then, George won and chose a fabulous Pacific Northwest themed sweatshirt. Sheila won the final game, (which was a “blackout” one), the prize being actual money. She walked away with $75! The next Bingo Night will be on September 16th. Even if none of us “win” next time, it’s a winning evening… lots of fun for everyone! Let’s see if we can get more of our members there. It’s a chance to socialize together and still do something positive for a great cause.

Tigard Farmer’s Market
• Last Sunday, seven members assisted, at various times, with the Tigard Farmer’s Market table. The Plinko game draws in the children, giving us an opportunity to talk with the parents about what our club does. We ended up getting a couple of new names of people interested in checking us out!
What if I live to be 100? • At Wednesday’s meeting, Dr. Raquel Muller asked this, and a number of other questions, reminding us that these are financial questions we should all be asking ourselves. Her presentation was very thought-provoking. She pointed out that by 2050, for the first time in history, older Americans will outnumber children, ages 1-18! We need to be planning to make sure that we will have enough to last as long as we do! What happens if we need care? Will we be able to afford it? She mentioned that in Washington County, the average cost of living in a care facility is about $6000 a month! UGH!

Board Members Don’t forget the Board meeting at 7:00 p.m., via Zoom, on Wednesday, August 26th. • We are approaching the deadline to register to attend the Division Installation
Banquet. Remember that all members are encouraged to attend. The date of the event is September 15th at 6:30 p.m. It’s being held at Si’ Senor Mexican Restaurant in Cedar Hills. The cost is $30 and you have a choice of four meals for that price, (which includes the gratuity). You must pick your meal choice as you register. If you haven’t yet made your reservation, please do so as soon as possible!

Don’t forget that the 2025-26 officers will be “retired”, and the 2026-27 officers will be installed. Plus, there will be a slide show of the year’s activities with many of our members being recognized.
Calling ALL Members • Being the “HOST Club” for Frank’s BBQ for the upcoming KDCCP fundraiser is a huge responsibility. This event will bring in people from all over the PNW District! We are going to need EVERY member to assist in some way. We need: o As many people as possible to show up at 1:00 p.m. to help with set-up. o At least four people selling raffle tickets throughout the event. o Four members to help with the paddle raise during the program. (Some will be spotters and some will be recorders.) o As many people as possible to help with clean-up at the end of the program. o As many people as possible to help by donating funds to buy items for a raffle basket to be valued at $200 or more!
Members are encouraged to sign up to help in more than one way! Some members volunteered via a sign-up sheet at Wednesday’s meeting. For those who haven’t yet shared how they hope to help, please know that you will be personally contacted sometime this coming week.
In the last newsletter, it was suggested that members who wished to be seated as part of a “club” should wait to individually purchase tickets. The latest news is that EVERYONE should go ahead and purchase their tickets online, NOW. They will seat clubs together. Tickets are selling quickly, so please don’t wait.
