Fantasy Yarn Wigs
What a truly special event was held last Saturday at the Courtyard Village. Over the course of the two sessions, about an equal number of Kiwanis and Key Clubbers participated in making approximately 20 wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy. Our club was well represented by both Kiwanis and Key Club!
At-A-Glance
At the Fantasy Yarn Wigs Event, the Portland area Lt. Governors, (both Kiwanis and Key Club), met for the first time.
Our own Siyi Liang conducted her first Presidents Council Meeting on Tuesday evening. She did a very professional job, sharing the agenda in advance and discussing a variety of issues to help benefit all the clubs in Key Club Division 64.
Thank you to Jaclynn, Chris and Cody for supporting the Foundation for Tigard-Tualatin Schools at their “Walk on the Wildside Gala”. Unfortunately, there are no pictures to share!

We were each given different tasks that evening… from greeting guests to getting sponsors for some of the 50 donated chairs, to operating a donation wheel and playing information games with the attendees. Dinner was great and the entire event was a fundraising success, making them over $300,000!

Two Upcoming Events for MHKC
On Friday, May 1st is the Gala which is a dinner and auction event held in Portland at 631 NE Grand Ave., starting at 6:00 p.m.
On Friday, June 5th is the annual workday at the camp. Kiwanis members do a variety of tasks, generally outdoors, to get the camp ready for the season. It’s a 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. day. The camp serves lunch to the workers. We will take sign-ups at our May meetings.
Tigard Farmers Market
Our first time at the Tigard Farmers Market this year will be on Sunday, May 3rd. We currently have six members tasked with doing shifts on that day, starting at 8:15 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m. For those of you who want to show up to check out the market and our booth… you can do so between 9:00 and 1:30. This day at the market has a Star Wars theme, with Star Wars characters wandering around.
• At our May 6th meeting we will be voting on our officer team for the 2026-27 year. If you cannot be there, please vote via email, (by midnight of May 5th). A “Yes” or “No” vote of confidence for the entire slate will suffice. A reminder to vote will be emailed on May 4th . The slate of candidates can be found on the next page, (and was also emailed to you by Bob Munger on April 15th).
You are invited to bring children’s “chapter books” to our May 6th Kiwanis meeting. These books are for our Community Partners for Affordable Housing project, to help stock their libraries for the children living there.
