From each Flower fat quarter, cut – 4 8½” squares (12 sets of petals) 4 3” squares (12 sets of centers) From Green, cut – 36 3” squares From Background, cut – 27 3” x WOF, sub-cut to 24 3”x 16½” 144 3” squares – the rest will be borders
Sew
3 for each flower
1 for each flower
Mark a diagonal line across the back of all 3” flower and leaf squares, and all but 12 of the 3” background squares. Pair the sets of petals and centers in a way that pleases. Follow diagrams to sew the centers, background, and leaf squares to the corners of the petals – Right sides together, sew along the line. Trim excess fabric to ¼” and press open. Paying close attention to the orientation on the diagrams, sew the remaining leaf squares to the 16½”x 3” background the same way. Sew the flower sets, leaf strips and 3” background according to the diagram to create 12 flowers.
Assemble
Sew the flowers together 3x4. Add the remaining background strips as borders to bottom and left.

How Does
Grow? Tina Leto’s fabric designs feature amazing photorealistic flowers in striking detail. Where does she get these lovely blooms? She grows them, of course! As a documentary photographer, Tina views authenticity as a driving principle, so when inspiration strikes the first tool she grabs is not her camera, but a garden spade. Months of weeding and watering precede every photo. Once the flowers are ready for their close-up, Tina focuses on revealing their textures and sculptural forms through magnification, an art tradition reaching back to the early 20th century. Like her inspiration, photography pioneer Karl Blossfeldt, Tina finds these botanical details transformative. We’re excited to bring this artistry to quilting and fabric crafts and can’t wait to see the beautiful creations that result!
