CHÂTEAU LATOUR 2019

A VERY HIGHLY SCORED CHATEÂU RELEASE - STRONG BUY

We are pleased to offer a tiny allocation of three cases of six bottles of Château Latour’s latest mature release, the 2019 Grand Vin. With an average score of 99.5 points & released at a near 10% discount to the 100-point 2016, this is a special asset for both cellar and portfolio.

In a vintage already being spoken of in the same breath as 2016 and 2010, Château Latour 2019 stands as one of the most complete and compelling wines of the Médoc. Produced under ideal growing conditions—warm, dry, and perfectly balanced by timely rainfall—this is a Latour of extraordinary depth, precision, and control.

6x75cl - £2,790 in bond

Latour removed itself from the speculative en primeur market in 2012, and only releases wines when the estate considers that they are ready. From a market perspective, Latour’s post-en primeur release model continues to reshape the traditional Bordeaux pricing curve. By withholding stock and releasing only with maturity, the château effectively compresses the window between critical validation and market availability.

This 2019 release, when set against the impressive 2016 release of last year comes with the added lustre of being a smaller vintage, in terms of production levels; thus the inverse supply curve which drives Fine Wine investment will be exacerbated.

At a near 10% discount to the 2016, the 2019 is fair value based on the Liv-ex data. When compared to the other Neal Martin 98 point rated vintages 2009 and 2005, the 2019 it is significantly cheaper, by 38% and 12% respectively; thus the 2019 is recommended as a STRONG BUY asset.

FURTHER RELEASE INFORMATION

Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate’s historic Enclos, the wine delivers remarkable concentration without excess. Layers of cassis, graphite, cedar, and crushed stone unfold with effortless authority, supported by Latour’s signature architecture: finely grained tannins, impeccable balance, and a finish that seems to resonate indefinitely.

Critically, the wine has been met with near-universal acclaim, with multiple 100-point scores and glowing commentary highlighting both its power and poise. Yet, what truly defines Latour 2019 is not its scale, but its clarity—a wine of immense structure that remains precise, composed, and quietly monumental.

Released directly from the château following extended élevage, and with perfect provenance guaranteed, this is a modern benchmark for Pauillac and a cornerstone addition to any serious cellar.

Set against the wider backdrop of the fine wine market, Latour 2019 sits at a compelling intersection. Recent years have seen increased selectivity among buyers, with capital concentrating around wines that offer both unquestionable pedigree and long-term relevance. Latour, perhaps more than any other First Growth, has demonstrated an ability to maintain liquidity and demand across cycles. In this sense, the trajectory of wines like the 2019 is less a question of if, and more a question of when, especially in the context of the key Fine Wine 100 index which is up 4% across the past six months, and Latour’s own index which shows average appreciation of 2.5% since January alone

There is also the matter of scarcity—not in absolute terms, but in availability. With the château retaining back vintages and releasing in controlled tranches, supply enters the market gradually, often into already receptive demand. As a result, opportunities to acquire at initial release levels tend to be fleeting. Historically, once absorbed into private cellars and long-term holdings, Latour’s finest vintages re-emerge only sporadically, and rarely at comparable levels.

Taken together, these factors—critical acclaim, controlled release, structural demand, and constrained availability—create a powerful sense of momentum. Château Latour 2019 is not merely a great wine entering the market; it is a wine positioned to be drawn upward by the very forces that define the Fine Wine market itself and thus comes highly recommended to those fortunate enough to secure a case.
