Clifton College is an independent boarding school in the heart of Clifton, described as “the most handsome suburb in Europe”. The co-educational school accommodates approximately 1,260 pupils aged 3 years to 18 years, 420 of which are boarders.
The College has two key sites; the main Clifton Campus (BS8 3JH) and the Clifton College Sports Ground at Abbots Leigh (BS8 3QD). The campus facilitates 7 boarding houses, 11 day houses, a beautiful beamed dining hall, our sports centre, two gymnasiums, 25ft swimming pool, 320 seat theatre, 900 seat chapel, classic classrooms, the Joseph Cooper music school and accompanying recital rooms, cooking studio and many more spaces fit for hosting an array of events, celebrations and residentials.
What we do
Clifton College is home to our students for 34 weeks of the year where our academic team work to provide the best holistic education for our young people. Outside of those weeks the grounds are available to share with our community. Outside of term time, Clifton college is host to a range of activities and experiences, such as our holiday club, theatre performances, cooking classes, residentials, weddings and you may have even spotted the grounds on screen, having been featured in shows such as Doctor Who and Boarders.

Arrivals
Drop Off Locations
Coaches are able to park for drop-off and collection on Guthrie Road outside the Zoo and Clifton College Music School. Please note that this is approximately a five-minute walk from Worcester and Wisemans boarding houses.
If guests are arriving in individual vehicles, we strongly recommend that arrival times are staggered. Please request that arriving guests are respectful of our neighbours and park considerately. Parking on-site for drop-off and collection is not permitted.
Room Allocation / House Layouts
Please ensure that boys and girls are kept separated within boarding houses, i.e. on different floors. Bathrooms are marked on house plans and it is essential that boys, girls and adult toilet/ shower facilities are separated and visibly labelled. This should be considered when working on room allocations. Please provide us with advance plans of where these will be, as we will organise the provision of sanitary bins. Adults must always have separate toilet/ shower facilities for children/students.
House Decorations and Signage
It is the responsibility of the hiring organisation to mark/label areas within the boarding houses. It is important that any signage is removable and that walls/fittings are not marked or damaged by the temporary attachment of signage or decorations.
Catering
As part of your residential, catering is included, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please make any dietary requirements known to your contact at least seven days prior to your group arrival.
Breakfast
A selection of tea, coffee, juice, yoghurts, granola, cereals, toast and fruit is available.
Lunch
A hot served meal, selection of salads and a dessert is available. Menus will be provided and confirmed prior to your stay.
Dinner
A hot served meal, selection of salads and a dessert is available. Menus will be provided prior to your stay.
Packed Lunches
Packed Lunches and Breakfasts are available to order. If you have any excursions planned where a packed lunch will be required, please alert the Events and Experience team at minimum 72 hours in advance, complete with numbers, dietary requirements and the house in which you will be departing from.
Packed Breakfast Offering: Pastry, yoghurt, fruit and a bottle of water.
Packed Lunch Offering: Sandwiches, fruit, crisps, a chocolate bar and a bottle of water.

Housekeeping
Upon arrival, beds will be made and are fitted with the following;

1 x duvet in duvet cover
Cleaning
1 x towel
1 x netted laundry bag
(for stays longer than 1 week)
Monday through Friday, daily cleans will take place in the boarding houses, including; emptying of bins, hoovering and surface cleaning. Please note that this service does not include bed making or tidying.
If you would prefer to forego cleaning, please place a note on the door of the room.
Laundry Services
Stays lasting for longer than seven days will be entitled to one laundry service per week. A netted laundry bag will be provided and small personal items can be laundered on site, such as T-shirts, socks and underwear. The laundry system is not suitable for heavy items sch as jumpers and delicate items.
Laundry Day collection will be agreed upon booking and laundry bags should be left in the entry way of the boarding house by 08:00am for collection.
On departure, guests must strip their beds. Pillowcases, bed sheets, duvet covers and towels should be left in sorted piles at the house entrance by 0800 on the day of departure.
Rooms must be tidy and in a good state of repair. Excessive rubbish, damage to fixtures and fittings or stains, etc. will be rectified and the cost of this shall be charged to the hiring organisation.
Houses are audited before and after arrival. Any damages, stains, excessive cleaning requirements, etc. shall be charged to the hiring organisation.
Access - IT - WiFi
Access cards and lanyards
Access cards will be granted to allow access into areas of the college. Access is split into a tiered system. Lanyards will be provided for safeguarding reasons and help identify the level of supervision required.
Tier 1 - Basic student / participant access to pre agreed areas such as boarding houses and meal areas.
Tier 2 - Group leader access to pre agreed areas such as boarding houses, meal areas, recreational spaces and teaching areas.
Tier 3 - Supervisor/ Teacher access to all agreed upon areas.
Upon completion of booking, the college will require a list of all visitors with full names and an indication of which tier of access card is required for them.
WiFi
The college operates a username and password access system for the Wifi. Each visitor will be allocated a unique access code and password per device. Please inform us of how many user names and passwords you will require as these are generated on a bespoke basis. The wifi network available in the boarding houses and around the campus is “ Clifton College Community Wifi.
Moberly’s House
Moberlys House is an Upper School boys boarding house with 66 available beds.
The house was heavily refurbished in 2019 and has a mix of rooms. Notably, the house has a large number of individual bedrooms.
The rear garden is inaccessible to residents.
The house has 66 total beds and has a total of 35 individual rooms, making this the house with the largest number of individual bedrooms on the property.
Please note that the ground floor rooms are attached to a private residence and we ask that noise be kept to a minimum where possible in this area.
School House
School house is situated on the main school site and holds 67 bedrooms, including a large number of single bedrooms.

This boarding house has a large number of single bedrooms.
School House has a mix of single, double, triple, quadruple and rooms of six.
Hallwards House
The house has been well-maintained and is in excellent condition. The house has a large number of 1-bed rooms.
Areas of note:
Hallwards is located on the perimeter of the upper school site and has been newly refurbished with a modern kitchen and social area.
Hallwards has an accessible kitchen and social room.
Study rooms and private spaces are available in Hallwards.
Oakleys House
Oakleys House sits on the perimeter of the upper school site, close to the Redgrave theater and holds a large number of double and triple rooms. Oakleys is one of the larger houses and has some spacious communal areas.
Wisemans House
Wisemans has large communal areas for socialising and holds a large number of three bed rooms. The house overlooks the cricket close and displays the iconic view of the main upper school site.
Worcester House
Worcester House sits next to Wiseman’s house and again hosts a large number of triple rooms, there is a private garden and the house overlooks the close to the main campus.
Watsons House
Watsons house is situated on the main school site and next to school house, the house looks out across the close and is home to a large number of single rooms plus a library, common room and kitchen spaces.
