Britain's hospitality and licensed trade industry has condemned Chancellor Rachel Reeves' Autumn 2025 budget as a devastating missed opportunity, with sector leaders warning that pubs will need to sell an additional 30 million pints every day simply to absorb the swelling cost burden imposed by the government's fiscal measures.

The reforms introduce a two-tier system, with reduced rates for properties valued under £500,000, funded by higher rates on larger commercial properties—particularly warehouses operated by online retailers.
