You will be notified via text if someone outbids you on an item, giving you a chance to increase your bid. You will also be notified via text when you win an item. We will be closing the auction at 8:00 p.m. on March 27 and winners will be notified after closing.

Pick-up of Items

Our staff will be available from 8:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. on March 29 at the Steve Wise Club (889 Jonathan Ave., Akron OH 44306). We ask for all winners to stop by that day to pick up their items. If you need to schedule a different day, please reach out to Grace Marras at gmarras@bgcneo.org or 216-306-3843.

You can pay for auction items all through the AccelEvents site using your credit card. All payments will directly support BGCNEO and the kids who need us most. There will be no refunds or exchanges (unless indicated in the item description). All items are offered in as-is condition. In the event of a dispute, the Auction Committee will render the final decision. Catalog descriptions and values are for convenience only. Neither the Auction Committee nor the consignors are responsible for errors in descriptions, authenticity or condition of goods offered. The Auction Committee reserves the right to withdraw any item not meeting minimum bid requirements.

About the Boys & Girls Clubs Our Mission

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, our mission is to inspire and enable young people who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens.

Our Story

Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio was formed in July 2019 by the merger of Clubs in Cleveland, the Western Reserve (Greater Akron), Lorain County and Erie County. The merger, one of the largest of its type in the nation, positioned BGCNEO to serve more kids in more places. Boys & Girls Clubs provide safe, fun places for kids ages 6-18 to go after school. The Clubs focus on academic achievement, healthy lifestyles and character development. The Clubs’ youth development professionals provide programming that includes arts, athletics and homework help.

Our Academic Success programs integrate school learning with enjoyable activities and foster a culture of high expectations and achievement. Healthy Lifestyles

Our Healthy Lifestyles programs nurture members’ overall wellbeing by promoting healthy habits and reducing risky ones. Kids set personal goals, improve social skills and develop healthy techniques for managing stress, eating healthy and staying fit. Character and Citizenship

Our Character and Citizenship programs encourage service to the Club and community, promote respect for self and others and build leadership skills. Youths following this path are less likely to fail, get suspended, drop out of school or get involved with the police – and are more likely to continue their education beyond high school. Key Programs: • Keystone Club • Torch Club • Youth of the Year • SMART Leaders Members of Boys & Girls Clubs are more likely to report the following positive outcomes: Academic Success • 77% on track for graduation. • 53% more likely to attend college. Event Host Event Emcee Sara Shookman Sara Shookman is an Emmy and Murrow award-winning television journalist, glad to be working here at home in Northeast Ohio. Sara anchors 3News’ 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts with Russ Mitchell. She joined the 3News team in 2012. Sara is one of 3News’ go-to storytellers, covering local, national and even international news. She’s often assigned to the big story and has filed reports around the country for WKYC studios’ parent company, TEGNA. The Olympics have been a favorite assignment for Sara. She’s covered the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Sara is an Akron native and has been heavily involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs. She has been a guest reader to youth, hosted Youth of the Year events, and been a member of the young professional Board.

Event Host Honorary Chair Patrick Bravo Patrick Bravo had his first leadership experience serving as a junior staff member at the Lebanon Area Boys & Girls Club, in Lebanon, Indiana, nearly 30 years ago. Today, he remains an advocate for the Boys & Girls Clubs and the children and families they serve. Patrick is the Executive Director of the Summit County Land Bank, located in Akron, Ohio, and has served in that role since 2014. Active in the community, he is also a member and pastpresident of the Akron Public Schools Board of Education, immediate past chair of the Board of Trustees for Child Guidance and Family Solutions, a member of the Salvation Army advisory board and is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Ohio Land Bank Association Board of Directors. Patrick has previously served on the Board of Trustees for ReWorks (formerly, the Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority) and the Summit/Medina Business Alliance, as well as numerous other committees and activities within the community. He is a former member of Torchbearers, a graduate of Leadership Akron’s Community Leadership Institute as well as Leadership Akron’s Signature Class 32, and a member of the Leadership Akron Alumni Association. Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, a Master’s in Public Administration & Urban Studies and law degree from The University of Akron, and has completed the required coursework for a Ph.D. in Public Administration & Urban Affairs from The University of Akron. Patrick lives in West Akron with his partner Michael and their 15-year old son, Aiden. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and is looking forward to the return of baseball at Canal Park this season with the Akron RubberDucks.

Youth of the Year Spotlight Youth of the Year is an annual competition of standout junior and senior Club members.

The Youth of the Year competition celebrates the extraordinary achievements of our members. Active Club members must maintain GPA requirements to qualify and preparing essays, speeches, resumes, and cover letters for the judging panel’s review. Participating youth gain valuable leadership and presentation skills and the winners qualify for college scholarships. At Aspire! you will hear from the 2021 BGCNEO Youth of the Year.

Jamaria is a senior at Sandusky High School. She has exemplified her leadership capability as Student Council President and volleyball Team Captain at her high school. Jamaria has been attending Club for as long as she can remember. She has helped with running events for younger Club Members and taken part in community engagement opportunties with her Club.

Abrianna is senior at Archbishop Hoban High School. She has exemplified her leadership capability through her employment at a local childcare center and many extra extracurricular activities such as Model UN and the South Akron Youth Mentorship Program. Abrianna has been a Club Member for many years and views staff members as family. Abrianna has been an active participant in the D2D and Career Launch programs.

Karla is a senior in the Akron Early College Program where she is earning both her High School Diploma and Associate’s Degree. She has exemplified her leadership capability through her employment at a local Walgreens and extracurricular activities such as the South Akron Youth Mentorship Program. Karla has been a Club member for many years, joining after seeing how much her brother loved Club. She has been an active participant in Torch Club and Keystone Club. Daisjana Walker

Daisjana is a senior at East Tech High School.
