Volunteers Needed Looking for a meaningful way to give back, meet new people, and have some fun in 2026? The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce offers plenty of opportunities to do just that. Each year, the Chamber hosts 17 signature events that bring our community together, including Color the Wind, Earth Day, the July 4th Celebration, TRI Clear Lake, Harvest Festival, Christmas by the Lake, and 11 Thursdays on Main. These events simply wouldn’t be possible without volunteers who generously share their time and talents. Member Spotlight: Clear Lake Boats For more than three decades, Clear Lake Boats has been a trusted part of life on the lake. Owned and operated by the Maulsby family, the business has been a Chamber member since 1991 and is led by President and General Manager Scott Maulsby. As Clear Lake’s only full service, parts, storage and marina on the lake, they truly do it all, and their team lives by a simple motto: “We sell fun.” But just as importantly, they take care of their customers’ boating needs year-round. This summer, Clear Lake Boats played a critical behind-the-scenes role in supporting the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s July 4th Celebration. Scott and his incredible staff went above and beyond to help prepare and manage the seven fireworks barges — work that was essential to the success of the fireworks display. Without their expertise, time, and willingness to jump in wherever needed, the show simply would not have gone on as seamlessly as it did. We caught up with Scott to learn more about his family’s roots in Clear Lake, their customer-first approach, and why staying connected to the local business community matters to them. Tell us a little about your business and what you do.
Clear Lake Boats is a family-owned boat dealership serving the Clear Lake area. We love helping customers get out on the water with quality boats, reliable service, and a no-pressure, customer-first approach. Whether someone is new to boating or a longtime lake local, our goal is to make boating easy and enjoyable.
What inspired your family to start Clear Lake Boats?
Our family has always had a strong connection to the water and the Clear Lake lifestyle. We saw an opportunity to build a business rooted in trust, service, and community — something we could be proud to pass on. Starting Clear Lake Boats allowed us to combine our passion for boating with serving the community we love.
What’s one thing people might not know about your business?
Many people don’t realize how hands-on and relationship-driven our business is. We don’t just sell boats — we build long-term relationships with our customers and support them well beyond the sale with service, guidance, and ongoing support.
How long have you been a Chamber member, and why did you join?
We’ve been a Chamber member for several years. We joined to connect with other local businesses, stay involved in the community, and support an organization that actively works to strengthen Clear Lake’s business environment.
What do you love most about being part of the Clear Lake community?
Clear Lake has a small-town feel with big community pride. People genuinely support local businesses, and there’s a strong sense of connection — whether it’s on the lake or at local events.

News + Updates Harvest Festival fills Downtown Clear Lake with fall fun Downtown Clear Lake was the place to be on Saturday, Oct. 4, as the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s Harvest Festival returned for another standout fall celebration. The event drew more than 13,000 people for a day of fall fun, including live music, shopping, food trucks, a homemade salsa contest, grape stomp competition, hayrides, wine and beer tastings, and the Champagne 5K. The event kicked off with a record-breaking Champagne 5K, sponsored by Mort's Water Company, Crown Juhl Travel, Bergland + Cram, McKesson Corporation, Stone & Steel, CENT Credit Union, with nearly 240 participants running and walking. The top male and female finishers were Ben Lloyd and Britt Stormer, respectively. The winners of the pole-decorating contest are as follows: Central Gardens of North Iowa got first; Farmers State Bank got second; and The Red Geranium got third. Thank you for helping us decorate downtown for this popular event. Harvest Festival is made possible by the dedicated committee as well as our Cornerstone sponsors: Clear Lake Bank & Trust, CL Tel, Curries-ASSA ABLOY, MBT Bank, Larson’s Mercantile, Rookies, Sevens and TAP’d. Lake Leadership showcases Economic Development, Education, and Health and Recreation in North Iowa The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s Lake Leadership Class of 2026, comprising 24 individuals representing area businesses across North Iowa, is building on a strong start as participants continued hands-on, community-based learning this fall. Lake Leadership is the Chamber’s flagship program, meeting once a month from September through May on the third Wednesday. The program is designed to educate civicminded individuals by using the community as a classroom. Participants go behind the scenes in the Clear Lake area, gaining opportunities to network with peers and learn more about the community and area businesses. In October, the class explored how area banks — and the airport — fuel economic development and support community growth. In November, participants learned how local schools, including the Clear Lake Community School District and North Iowa Area Community College, are preparing the next generation of workers in North Iowa. In December, the class got a firsthand look at area health and recreational opportunities, and in January, they will turn their focus to the Clear Lake area’s businesses and industries. The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce thanks its member businesses for helping make Lake Leadership a program that’s talked about for years to come. Chamber launches Rising Tides: Lake Leadership Alumni Program It was a picture-perfect fall day as the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce launched its Rising Tides: Lake Leadership Alumni Program on Friday, Oct. 24, at Plain Ol’ Pumpkins! More than 40 alumni gathered for lunch, a leadership message called “From Busy to Balanced, Leading without Losing Yourself” with Dan Schuknecht, owner of Iceberg Coaching and Lake Leadership Alumni Committee member; and a presentation and tour of Plain Ol’ Pumpkins with owners Andy and Jamie Meyer. This new initiative is designed to bring together graduates of our flagship leadership program, offering opportunities to stay connected, learn, and continue making an impact in our community. ctober’s event was the first of what the Lake O Leadership Alumni Committee hopes will be quarterly alumni programs featuring networking, education, and unique experiences at area businesses and organizations. Weiss joins Clear Lake Noon Lions Club The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Engagement Director Ashley Weiss was among seven new members inducted into the Clear Lake Noon Lions Club on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The induction ceremony marked the club’s largest slate of newcomers in quite some time, and its first women. Weiss was sponsored by Club President Mike Callanan and chose to join the Lions International in honor of her late grandmother, Cathy Plath, who served as a District Governor in 2002 and 2003, and her grandfather, Gerald Plath, both of whom dedicated a great deal of time to the organization and its missions. She is looking forward to contributing her time and talents to this 100-plus-year-old organization comprised of community leaders who continue to make Clear Lake an even better place to live, work and serve. www.clearlakeiowa.com

Fundermann celebrates 30 years with the Chamber The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating a major milestone as Events Director Trish Fundermann marks 30 years with the organization. The Chamber and community gathered in November at TAP’d for a well-attended open house honoring and recognizing decades of service. When Fundermann started at the Chamber, the only community event on the calendar was the July 4th Celebration. Today, the Chamber hosts 17 communitywide events and a dozen or more Chamber events each year. Fundermann, along with Events Assistant Jenny Fasbender, serve as the backbone of the Chamber’s community events, helping bring Clear Lake’s largest traditions to life. The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is grateful for Trish’s three decades of dedication and the lasting impact her work continues to have on Clear Lake. Please join us in celebrating her!
Christmas by the Lake delivered a snow-globe weekend in Clear Lake Fresh snowfall, twinkling lights and long-standing holiday traditions set the scene for a picture-perfect weekend for Christmas by the Lake in downtown Clear Lake. The Chamber’s event drew more than 8,000 visitors to enjoy Santa’s House and holiday shopping to fireworks and warm fire barrels, the community came together for a celebration that felt straight out of a movie. Festivities kicked off Friday, Dec. 5, with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony that carried added meaning this year. Each ornament on the Memory Tree honored someone special, with proceeds supporting neighbors close to home. Thanks to generous community support, $1,134 was raised for the Clear Lake Community School District’s Holiday Meal Program, helping ensure local families had meals during the holiday season. Saturday’s festivities featured Santa visits, local shopping, BINGO, holiday crafts, a Grinch pizza party, petting zoo, horse-drawn carriage and hayrack rides, and wrapped up with two can’t-miss traditions: the lighted parade and fireworks. Momentum grows on the Welcome Center & Chamber project
Board of Directors 2025 Mark Dodd, Board Chair One Vision Sarah Nielsen, Past Chair First Citizens Bank Progress continues on our future Chamber and Welcome Center at 205 Main Ave. and we’re excited for the opportunities this building will provide for the community. Drywall is officially up on the second and third levels, and mechanical and electrical rough-ins are nearly complete. The front EIFS is finished, and if you look closely, you can spot a sample of the brick on the top of the west wall. Brick installation will finish up this spring once the weather cooperates. Drywall finishing started before Christmas, with painting coming in January. The project is expected to be complete by May. During construction, you can find us one block east at 306 Main Ave. in Clear Lake. A big thank you to everyone who has supported this once-in-a-lifetime project that will serve Clear Lake for generations to come. Our new space will help us: Enhance the Visitor Experience A larger, more welcoming space allows us to greet multiple groups at once, share Clear Lake’s story, and connect travelers with local businesses and attractions. Strengthen Event Support With improved storage and workspace, our team can better execute the community events people love, from the 4th of July Celebration to Thursdays on Main, right outside our front door. Serve the Business Community The new center offers professional space for meetings, networking, and Chamber programs, creating more opportunities for businesses to connect and grow.
