◦ Our House captains are William Heslop and Beatrix Mullineux.

◦ We also have a number of year 11 peer leaders who, alongside our captains, and vice-captains are here to guide Radnor students through all aspects of school life.

HISTORY OF RADNOR HOUSE

•Radnor: in 1940, the School was evacuated to Llandrindod Wells in Radnor, Wales while the mansion was taken over by Hawker Aircraft Limited.

•The School returned to Esher in 1946.The emblem is the Welsh dragon in remembrance of the School’s wartime evacuation.

Role of the Tutor and House System

• Tutors are your first point of contact.

• Distribution of information and help coordinate administration e.g. sports choices, exam details etc.

• Attendance monitoring.

• Rewards and sanctions oversight.

• Facilitating mentoring opportunities.

• Monitoring and supporting academic progress.

• Managing pastoral concerns.

• Knowledge and encouragement of cocurricular activity.

• Providing a supportive atmosphere for inter year group activity.

• Intra-house events.

• Opportunity to lead house assemblies.

• House charity support.

Where you have a specific question or concern, in the first instance, please contact your child’s tutor.

Typical escalation route if necessary:

Tutor head of house head deputy head (pastoral) deputy head (academic) An initial response will be sent within 24 hours. More complex matters may require further research and enquiries.

PARENT PORTAL

• Resources – term dates, forms, uniform, co-curricular guide etc

• Pupil specific information – reports, timetable, homework tasks set

• Your messages from school (which are also sent via email)

• Live full school calendar

• Update your contact information

• Website and a mobile app

• Quick links (eg form to report a child’s absence)

LOST PROPERTY

• • Bags left on site overnight or weekend will be moved.

• There are lost property stores outside PE and in the science entrance

• Named items will be given to HoH to notify students via email. It is really important that pupils read their emails!

• Periodically, a lost property 'tent' will be placed in the top car park for items which have not been reclaimed by the routes above.

• • 27th September – Saturday morning, is the next “good as new” sale

Phones to be switched off and in bags or lockers whilst on school property.

Social media

Year 7 students are not allowed to join social media groups, Whatsapp included, with other Claremont pupils.

TEEN TIPS WELLBEING HUB

§ A ‘one-stop’ website / app for expert information on the social, emotional and educational needs of young people.

§ We use the website in school with students with a pupil portal and there is also a parent portal.

o Courses (parenting and autism course)

o Resources (A-Z of different topic areas)

o Events (incl webinars, podcasts and blogs)

o Q&A

What

can you do at home to support your child’s learning?

• Encourage students do their prep in a quiet and focused working environment – kitchen table, no media, phones, music without lyrics preferably

• Help establish weekly working rhythms and support preparation plans for holiday breaks

• Signing prep diaries over the weekend

• Encourage co-curricular participation
