Welcome to Claremont’s Junior School exciting cocurricular clubs and wraparound care information guide. We are really excited to introduce you to the new academic year and all of the exciting activities on offer this autumn term. Clubs at Claremont are an integral part of the curriculum; after all, a child’s time at school extends far beyond the classroom. Learning happens in many ways and often flourishes when exploring an interest or discovering a new passion, so we aim to support every child’s growth and ensure their interests are always at the heart of what we do. From the very start, in pre-nursery, we offer wraparound care before and after the school day, providing consistent care from the same team of expert staff who teach and support the children during the school day. When children move into reception, participation in our exciting co-curricular club programme begins. Running before, during and after the school day, the programme steadily evolves, offering greater variety and additional opportunities for pupils as they progress through Junior School.

Please use this guide to explore and choose: Our flexible wraparound care, available from pre-nursery, led by familiar junior school staff, providing nurturing support before and after the school day. This term’s great range of cocurricular clubs across the junior school, tailored to different ages, interests and abilities, before, during and after-school. Once you have made your choices, simply book your child’s club places through the myEVOLVE system using the links and instructions in this guide.
We have worked carefully to shape a broad and balanced range of clubs to complement classroom learning while also opening the door to new experiences. We hope that your child finds enjoyment and a sense of belonging in all that is on offer.

WELCOME TO STABLE COURT’S PORTFOLIO AWARD From Year 3 to Year 6.
Nurturing ambition, involvement and achievement. The Portfolio Award is an exciting award system for all children in Stable Court, running from Year 3 through to Year 6. It encourages pupils to step beyond the classroom and explore new experiences, develop skills and build confidence through a wide range of engaging challenges. It is much like a junior school version of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Each year group works towards a different level of award. The programme is divided into six sections, each focused on key life skills and personal development. Each year, pupils are encouraged to complete three challenges for each category to achieve the award, progressing from bronze to platinum across their time in Stable Court. The co-curricular programme is central to the award. Clubs linked to each category provide opportunities to complete challenges. As pupils move through Stable Court, they are encouraged to take part in a broad range of clubs, building depth of experience over time and contributing towards the award. The award celebrates participation, effort and progress, helping pupils develop independence and a strong sense of achievement, while proudly recognising their journey through badges and milestones.

Make music together! Orchestra gives pupils the opportunity to play in a full ensemble, developing musicianship, teamwork and confidence while rehearsing and performing together. Welcoming all pupils who would like to sing in the Barnardos Young Supporters Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Weekly attendance at this clubs is compulsory until the concert as the concert takes place on Tuesday 24 November 2026. Please note, there is a netball match scheduled for this day so please do not sign up if you want to take part in the netball match.

DESCRIPTION THIS CLUB RUNS EVERYDAY AFTER SCHOOL, AND IS OPEN TO ALL. This club designed to allow children to relax after a busy school day. Children may choose from a range of activities such as games and puzzles to play with their friends. If children are attending After School Club (ASC) they will be taken by staff to Stable Court after Chill Out Club finishes. Any child who is not collected at 4.15 will automatically be taken to ASC and charges will be incurred. Chill Out Club will be supervised by Claremont staff.

Whether your child already loves reading or is just starting out, this club is the perfect place to spark imagination and build confidence. Children will enjoy listening to a range of books and spending time discussing stories together. This is a drop in club so no need to book.

Join our mini diggers eco club for hands-on, muddy fun! Children will explore nature, look after plants and hunt for minibeasts. Develop green fingers, learn about environmental care, and boost teamwork skills in a fun, often based in our outdoor setting of our very own Fan Court garden.

Fun and hands on, Cook Stars junior cooking classes help children build confidence in the kitchen as they create a different delicious dish each week. With their own workstation and all ingredients provided, children cook from scratch, enjoy creative activities and take home their finished dish and recipe card. Yoganory combines storytelling and yoga, bringing characters to life through poses. Classes build strength, balance, flexibility, creativity and focus, while exploring yoga’s core values such as kindness, honesty and self-control. Sessions are fun, inclusive and non-competitive, with exercise, breathing, mindfulness and relaxation. Led by qualified yoga teacher Hayley Chalwin. For more information CLICK HERE.

Mindfulness Club offers a calm, welcoming space where children can relax, unwind, and explore simple wellbeing activities. Through calm colouring and gentle breathing exercises and more, pupils will discover practical strategies to support emotional balance and positive wellbeing. Children can step into a calm, inviting space and gently step away from the business of the day. At Fan Court this club is a lunch time drop in so no need to book.

Build, explore and imagine! Shaped by pupil voice through the junior school council, Den Building Club responds to children’s call for more hands-on, outdoor and screenfree time. Set in Claremont’s historic walled garden, pupils work together to build dens, explore nature and develop creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Construction club is a fun and enjoyable club where the children can bring their creations to life! Under supervision, children can build with a variety of construction sets such as Lego, independently or in a group. TERMS AND WRAPAROUND CARE BOOKINGS INFORMATION Bookings are made via myEVOLVE. Booking will open Thursday 3 September and close Sunday 13 December. Sessions will begin on Monday 7 September and finish on Tuesday 15 December. Pupils must be registered via the online booking system for wraparound care (Breakfast Club - reception to Year 6 is drop-in, no booking required). Early Birds Club (pre-nursery and nursery): Available to all children in pre-nursery and nursery from 8.00am, before the school day begins at 8.30am. Regular and ad-hoc bookings should be made using myEVOLVE www.myEVOLVE.online with at least 48 hours’ notice. Each session is charged at £3.50 and is billed half termly in arrears via myEVOLVE. Children arriving for Early Birds Club should not be left unattended within the school grounds prior to 8.00am. They should be brought to the nursery classrooms to drop off. When dropping children at Early Birds, parents are required to park in the marked bays. Please note that breakfast is not served at Early Birds Club. Breakfast Club (reception to Year 6): From 7.45am in the new dining room, (breakfast will be available for the children). CONDITIONS CO-CURRICULAR BOOKINGS INFORMATION Please note that some clubs will only be able to take place once minimum numbers are met. Bookings are made via myEVOLVE. Co-curricular clubs will commence on Monday 14 September and finish on Friday 11 December. Booking will open Thursday 3 September and close Tuesday 8 September. Booking is mandatory and pupils are expected to attend regularly throughout the term to ensure others do not miss out. In response to parents’ feedback we have created as much space as possible in all clubs, however spaces are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Once a club becomes full the bookings will close and if your child did not receive a place you will automatically be added onto a waiting list for that particular club. We endeavour to accommodate every pupil’s preferred club choice for at least one term during the school year. If your child is on the register for the chosen club, you will be able to see this information within your account each term, no confirmation will be sent by the office. Clubs are enrichment opportunities and children need to be ready emotionally for these developmental milestones. If we feel a child is not thriving in a club we will discuss with the parents whether continuance of attendance is advisable. If you wish to stop the attendance of any club, please contact the school office in writing after the first week of attendance. In the case of externally provided clubs you will only be charged for the first session. Any cancellations after this date will be liable for charges for the whole term. PAID CLUB PAYMENT INFORMATION Please note, to secure a booking for a paid club payment must be made in full at the time of booking, for the term. Following the introduction of VAT from 1 January 2025 please note that most external clubs are now subject to VAT and this is reflected in the prices on myEVOLVE. CONTINUING TO AFTER SCHOOL CLUB ONCE CO CURRICULAR CLUBS FINISH After school co-curricular clubs finish at 4.15pm in Fan Court and 4.45pm in Stable Court. Children can then be collected, or are welcome to move on to After School Club, until 6.00pm (charges apply). In this case, after the club finishes, children are collected by a member of the After School Club. Please make sure you select both clubs on myEVOLVE and your child will be added to both registers. COLLECTING YOUR CHILDREN FROM CO-CURRICULAR CLUBS Fan Court: To collect your child after co-curricular clubs finish at 4.15pm please park on the gravel next to our pre-nursery area and walk to the club location. Please note, any children not collected on time from a cocurricular club will automatically be taken to After School Club, and a charge will be incurred. Stable Court: Collection from Stable Court co-curricular clubs at 4.45pm is from the playground outside the main entrance to Stable Court. Please make sure you sign your child out with the club leader. If you child does not have a place in a club but childcare is required all Stable Court children are guaranteed a space in Stable Court Prep and Chill Club whenever needed. If you have been delayed and will be late to collect your child, or if insufficient notice of cancellation is received or in cases of late collection, the school reserves the right to charge a fee.
