HELLO! THE CLAREMONT CURRICULUM:
LEARNING ABOUT OURSELVES, OTHERS AND THE WORLD AROUND US. We are really excited to share our junior school spring term co-curricular and wrapround care programme, featuring 12 new clubs for this term. Wraparound care begins from Pre-nursery, offering families consistent support from the very start of their Claremont journey. As children move into Reception, they are able to join our vibrant co-curricular club programme, which grows steadily as they progress through the school. Clubs at Claremont are an integral part of the curriculum; after all a child's time at school extends far beyond the classroom. Learning happens in many ways and often flourishes when exploring an interest or discovering a new passion. We have worked to carefully shape a broad and balanced range of clubs to complement classroom learning while also opening the door to new experiences. We hope that your child finds enjoyment and belonging in all that is on offer.

Pupils explore ballet, modern, tap, commercial dance, musical awareness and expressive drama. The club is led by Sophie Watson-Lobo, an experienced teacher and Laine Theatre Arts graduate, whose former students now perform in West End shows including Hamilton, Wicked and Les Misérables. Compose, create, and record your own music! M:Tech is an exciting club where pupils use technology to explore the world of music production. From writing catchy melodies to building beats and mixing tracks, children will learn how to bring their musical ideas to life using specialist software in a fun, hands-on environment—no experience needed! Impact Dance Studios offers vibrant modern dance classes to Years 3-6. Modern is a great genre for exploring different styles of dance (jazz, lyrical, and musical theatre to name a few) while learning technique and performance skills. DESCRIPTION THIS CLUB RUNS EVERYDAY AFTER SCHOOL, AND IS OPEN TO ALL This club designed to allow children to relax after a busy school day. Children may choose from a range of activities such as games and puzzles to play with their friends. If children are attending After School Club (ASC) they will be taken by staff to Stable Court after Chill Out Club finishes. Any child who is not collected at 4.20 will automatically be taken to ASC and charges will be incurred. Chill Out Club will be supervised by Claremont staff.

Design and make fashion outfits (out of paper) on a weekly theme and vote for the best dressed cardboard mannequin. Use your imagination and creative flair to impress the rest of the club each week. Pupils will learn how to communicate with the deaf community by learning some of the basic signs of British Sign Language (BSL). They will learn the BSL fingerspelling alphabet and develop their sign vocabulary around topics such as colours, animals and food. We will practise holding simple conversations by asking and responding to questions such as ‘What is your name?’, ‘How old are you?’ and ‘Where do you live?’. We will also learn how to sign along to some well-known songs. Pupils will become more deaf aware and learn how to ensure people with hearing impairment can be made to feel included in our society.

Year 3 to 4 rugby practice: Pupils learn the fundamentals of passing, catching, evasion, and teamwork through games and drills. Children will build confidence, coordination and core rugby skills to prepare them for fixtures throughout the term. Rugby practice for children in Year 5 to 6 rugby practice: We focus on core skills such as passing and tacking technique to enhance understanding of the game and prepare the children for fixtures during the term. Sessions will include drills and game practice aimed at building confidence, coordination, teamwork and skill. Years 3 to 4: Learn the basics of grip, stance and swing in a fun, supportive setting with games and challenges to build confidence and teamwork. A variety of options are available, including croissants, cooked breakfast, cereal, fruit, and toast. Reception to Year 2 children are escorted to Fan Court in time for the start of the school day. No advance booking is required.

HELPFUL INFOMATION AND BOOKINGS INFORMATION Spring term clubs will commence on Tuesday 6 January. Please note that some clubs will only be able to take place once minimum numbers are met. Bookings are made via myEVOLVE. opening Tuesday 2 December, closing Sunday 7 December (for co-curricular clubs) and Tuesday 24 March (for wraparound care). Pupils must be registered via the online booking system for all clubs (except Breakfast Club). Pupils will not be permitted to attend otherwise. Staff will strictly adhere to this policy. In response to parents’ feedback we have created as much space as possible in all clubs, however spaces are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Once a club becomes full the bookings will close and if your child did not receive a place you will automatically be added onto a waiting list for that particular club. If your child is on the register for the chosen club, you will be able to see this information within your account each term, no confirmation will be sent by the office. Clubs are enrichment opportunities and children need to be ready emotionally for these developmental milestones. If we feel a child is not thriving in a club we will discuss with the parents whether continuance of attendance is advisable. If you wish to stop the attendance of any club, please contact the school office in writing after the first week of attendance. In the case of externally provided clubs you will only be charged for the first session. Any cancellations after this date will be liable for charges for the whole term. PAYMENT INFORMATION Please note, we have removed the need for immediate payment to secure a place in clubs. Charges will be billed after the February half term. Following the introduction of VAT from 1 January 2025 please note that most external clubs are now subject to VAT and this is reflected in the prices on myEVOLVE. CONTINUING TO AFTER SCHOOL CLUB ONCE CO CURRICULAR CLUBS FINISH After school co-curricular clubs finish at 4.20pm in Fan Court and 4.45pm in Stable Court. Children can then be collected, or are welcome to move on to After School Club, until 6.00pm (charges apply). In this case, after the club finishes, children are collected by a member of the After School Club. Please make sure you select both clubs on myEVOLVE and your child will be added to both registers. COLLECTING YOUR CHILDREN FROM CO-CURRICULAR CLUBS Fan Court: To collect your child after co-curricular clubs finish at 4.20pm please park on the gravel next to our Pre-nursery area and walk to the club location. Please note, any children not collected on time from a co-curricular club will automatically be taken to After School Club, and a charge will be incurred. Stable Court: Collection from Stable Court co-curricular clubs at 4.45pm is from the playground outside the main entrance to Stable Court. Please make sure you sign your child out with the club leader. If you child does not have a place in a club but childcare is required all Stable Court children are guaranteed a space in Stable Court Prep and Chill club whenever needed. If you have been delayed and will be late to collect your child, or if insufficient notice of cancellation is received or in cases of late collection, the school reserves the right to charge a fee.
