What an incredible afternoon we had at our Strictly Talented talent show! A huge well done to all of our amazing contestants every single performer was fantastic. The confidence, creativity and dedication truly shone through. You all put in so much practice and effort, and you should be extremely proud of yourselves. You are all stars!
A huge well done to Aoife, George, Rosa, Blake, Honor, Inaya, Alexander, Bebe, Charlotte, Suzie, Lana, Emilia, Catherine, Kika, Crystal, Pia, Lottie, Blair, Leela, Freddie, Luli, Nadia, Jessica, Cressida, Sara and Ava for your wonderful performances, and a special congratulations to our top 3 finalists, Bebe (1st), Pia and Lottie (2nd) and Rosa (3rd). What a fantastic achievement!

Kestrels Class Assembly – Friday 30 January
A huge well done to Kestrels class for their wonderful class assembly about our Claremont Learner Attributes. They showcased all our learner attributes perfectly, they help us to be confident, independent learners, ready to understand ourselves, others and the world in which we live.

YEAR 2 FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE WORKSHOP
MONDAY 26 JANUARY
Year 2 had a great time in their workshop, thanks to Freshwater Theatre company, on their exciting adventure back in time to the period of the Crimean War. They learned about Florence Nightingale’s early life and took part in lessons such as planting and sewing. The children took a train and a boat to Scutari and discovered the extent of the awful conditions that soldiers faced. Imagining they too were nurses, the children scrubbed floors, cooked healthy meals and washed their hands in order to improve hygiene. They provided medicines and even bandaged their injured friends! Year 2 saw the impact that Florence and Mary Seacole had on modern medicine and found out she was awarded the Red Cross by Queen Victoria, as well as being given a grant to set up her own nursing training school at St Thomas’s hospital.
RECEPTION FAIRY TALE DAY
MONDAY 9 FEBRUARY
To celebrate our 'Once Upon a time..' topic the children had a magical day wearing their castle themed costumes and an adventure to the mansion to meet Mr Brierly. He gave us a tour of some of the rooms full of history including his office which used to be a bedroom. We were able to see a painting which showed us what the room looked like before. After exploring the mansion, the children were treated to a royal tea party with juice and cupcakes and spent some time talking to Mr Brierly. He told us all about the Belvedere too, so we went to have a look there too.
