JULY CRIME SNAPSHOT

July has seen an increase in traffic offenses throughout Newcaster. We’ve seen a general rise in the amount of drunk and reckless drivers on our roadways. To keep yourself safe from these drivers: Always keep a car-length away from other vehicles, take care when approaching intersections and report any suspicious driving to the NPD!

PUBLIC SAFETY HIGHLIGHT

Our School Resource Officer team was recently expanded! Two more SROs were hired this month to work in the St. Andrews Middle & High School, supporting Newcaster’s children and making sure they’re safe and well in a great school.

This month, we promoted four new sergeants! Konstant Schneider, Rory Gillespie and Charles Melchett became Platoon Sergeants - Hal Glenland was promoted to Patrol Ops. Sgt.

OFFICER SPOTLIGHT!

Detective Robert Lawrenc

Meet Detective Lawrence!

Born and raised in the outskirts of Newcaster, Robert Lawrence would go on to join the NPD as a Forensic Investigator.

In his short service, Lawrence has contributed greatly to his division and community, being involved in a number of cases and singlehandedly responsible for many upgrades forensics branch!

St. Andrews Middle & High School Staff

In light of the tragedy at the Patriot Party’s demonstration, where a lone-actor weaponized a stolen vehicle, injuring seven people and taking the lives of four more, citizens of Newcaster - particularly from the St. Andrews School, and the Patriot Party themselveshave stepped up.

These people went out of their way to organise fundraisers to help the recovery of wounded Newcaster Police Officers. The Newcaster Police Foundation is organising a similar effort to help the families of those we lost.

‘COPS IN THE COMMUNITY’ SERVICE DAYS

The “Cops in the Community” initiative will take place within the month of August, involving Police Officers going out into the community to help individuals with neighbourhood issues.

COMMUNITY VIGIL

In the coming days, an event is planned to honour those we lost in this senseless attack. Further details will be sent out soon.

his past month, the Newcaster olice Department is proud to ave unveiled three new pecialised units. These new introductions are part of our ongoing effort to expand the ways in which we can respond to community needs with efficiency and compassion.

We’ve also welcomed a number of new officers to our department, so you may see some new faces in uniform - don’t hesitate to say hello or strike up a conversation!

And, finally, I want to thank you, the people of Newcaster. While we know there’s still work to do, the improved sentiments of most of the community has not gone unnoticed. This makes it clear, to us, that positive change is not only plausible - but already underway. I thank you for being a part of that progress -
