Mercury Lane closure for futureproofing works – Stage two Dear neighbours, Stage two of our Mercury Lane temporary closure works is scheduled to commence on 23 May 2024. This stage is expected to take four to five weeks, with work carried out from the top of Mercury Lane to the northern corner of the Mercury Lane/Cross Street junction. During stage two, traffic controllers will be in place at the Mercury Lane/Cross Street junction to manage vehicular access for residents and businesses who require access. This will change for a short period to local access at the top of Mercury Lane, which we will communicate to local residents and businesses. Pedestrian access through Mercury Lane, to apartments and businesses will be maintained, with additional signage installed when required. Wilson Parking will continue to remain open throughout the works and will be accessible via their respective entrances on Cross Street and Mercury Lane. The diversion route for stage two can be seen in the diagram below, with the area of works in red. The righthand turn from Karangahape Road into Upper Queen Street will be reinstated. During these works, Cross Street’s directional flow will be reversed, becoming a west to east traffic flow. Please note that the righthand turn from Upper Queen Street into Canada Street will not be viable so please adhere to the diversions in place during these works.
