Mercury Lane Closure for Futureproofing Works Dear neighbours, To ensure the neighbourhood is futureproofed for potential development, Link Alliance, on behalf of Vector, will be installing a mixture of high (22kV) and low (11kV) voltage cables within the road in Mercury Lane. We will also be installing pipework to connect the station to the local Watercare network during the same work window. These works require temporary closures of sections of the lane to vehicles, beginning 15 April to late June 2024 (traffic management to be installed on the evening of 14 April). Traffic controllers will be in place to manage vehicular access for residents and businesses. Pedestrian access through Mercury Lane, to apartments and businesses will be maintained, with additional signage installed when required. The closure will allow us to dig a 150-metre-long trench that will be used by Vector to futureproof power supplies. The trench is 1.2 metres deep and 1.2 metres wide. The works will be carried out in three stages to minimise disruption. The first stage of works is scheduled to take place from 15 to 28 April inclusive (green in the below diagram). This will see the closure of the lower section of Mercury Lane from the southern corner of Cross Street / Mercury Lane, to just above the Wilson entry / exit on Mercury Lane. Wilson Parking will remain open throughout the works.

We will notify you of stage two and stage three works closer to their respective start dates in late April. March 2024
