MHC Introduces Contract 9 and explains its context/relevance to the wider project: - Futureproof Britomart Station for increased patronage - Ensure station can accommodate 9-car trains up to 24 times / hour - Already contained within $4.4b funding envelope - Construction partners include KiwiRail, who are doing the bulk of the work - Construction to start later this year, completed in early 2024

MHC explains scope: - Large portion of the C9 works is happening underground - Track infrastructure in Britomart East junction - Platform and concourse works

MHC explains construction impacts: - Majority of works underground - Some surface works in particular locations will impact neighbours - Above ground works on Britomart Place / Scene Lane will require traffic management for six to eight months - No streetscape enhancement

Name gifted by Ngāti Whatua Ōrākei and endorsed by the CRL Mana Whenua Forum
•
Gifted name is Te Komititanga
•
Komiti in Te Reo Māori can be translated into English as ‘to mix’ or ‘to merge’
•
The name reflects that the square will be a place where people can come together in formality, celebration and parade. People will also travel through, mix and meet within the square as they move between transport modes, the harbour, Commercial Bay and mid-city
•
The name also reflects that the square is a place where the waters of Waitematā and Wai Horotiu had merged
•
MHC opened the floor up to feedback on the naming from CLG members
•
CLG member asked whether the name Te Komititanga will replace the name Lower Queen Street. MHC explained that it will represent the space, just like Aotea Square, but it won’t affect any of the street addresses

C1 Britomart/Lower Queen Street update – Andrew Swan and Jhon Aragon
• AS provided Covid-19 update: - Covid-19 during March/April/May has resulted in a delay. The Chief Post Office (CPO) will now be reopened towards the end of February 2021, with station operations moved and operational in early March - At Alert Level 3, controls will continue to be maintained including safety briefings, physical distancing, enhanced cleaning and work bubbles - Face masks have been mandated on site (under Covid level 3) - Only relevant personnel to the work are currently onsite - Office based staff are working from home where possible - Utilising the ‘back-shift’ to smooth out resource on site (employing the shift from 4pm to 11pm) - The site is continuing to operate at full capacity • AS provided construction update:

Brought down barrier between temp station accommodation and CPO, reinstating the connection between the two Progressing with finishing work inside the CPO (columns, ceiling, tiles etc) Installing MEP services in the CPO basement Installed the last of the metro-grade escalators Starting to connect the new systems with existing station The seawall will remain in place, covered, and its location will be marked

CLG member thanked team for fixing an issue that was affecting them with regard to a spotlight near the CPO

JA gave a streetscape update: - Mature native trees to be planted in LQS within the next few months - Reconnecting underground services (watermain, stormwater etc) - Paving is starting as of this week, which will continue until the end of the year until the completion of LQS plaza - Mentioned the below construction schedule

CLG member (Tania Loveridge) asked whether the fencing around LQS C1 would be shrunk back as works are completed. JA confirmed that this would be the case in a west to east fashion – giving more space to pedestrians accessing Commercial Bay JA noted that only Tyler St and Galway St going to have are going to have 2x electronic Bollards each and will be permanently a two-way road. BS noted she would be working on updated staging notification on the footpath on Tyler and Galway for publication to nearby residents in the following weeks CLG member enquired about the health of the trees to go into LQS. JA confirmed the five pōhutakawa are healthy and ready to be planted in late Sept/early Oct.

C2 Albert St contract update – Lucas Nikkel
• LN explains that contract completion that was estimated for December, has now come forward to October • September will be a big month for finishing up smaller areas of works • Night works to complete construction at Customs St intersection completed without complaint Page | 3

• All 23 trees now planted • Finished final concrete pour as part of C2 works • LN mentions red shaded part of street scape in diagram (below) denotes works that related to other private developments looked after by the Auckland Council, and that those will still look unfinished even though the C2 contract will have come to an end
• Pavers complete, street furniture, streetlights and bike racks all installed • Speaking to pictures, LN mentions is smaller finishing details being completed • By October contract will be complete • CLG member (Tania Loveridge) said that was great news and asked if businesses were aware of that date. LN confirmed that Aude has been notifying businesses up and down the street.
