C2: Albert Street works • Aboveground works have started, including installation of new utility services, tree pit construction and new finished footpath and road carriageway
• Tunnel floors and walls are largely complete with only two more sections of roof to be poured
• Tunnel box construction expected to be completed by July

Albert St – Canopy removal works • Canopy removal outside SkyCity is complete. An area will remain fenced off to store construction materials • Canopy demolition outside Auckland Council and Manhattan Apartments is complete • Reinstatement works underway outside council and Manhattan with scaffolding scheduled to be removed through July and August • Scaffolding erected outside AA building, demolition works have commenced 14

C1: Britomart & Lower Queen St • Construction of tunnel floors underneath the CPO is complete for both tunnels. Construction of tunnel walls has commenced
• Construction of tunnel floors in Lower Queen St is almost complete
• Demolition of stairs within Britomart station on northern side of escalators is underway

Mt Eden (C6) stormwater realignment works • ‘Jeffie’ has completed her 423m journey, diverting a section of the existing Mt Eden stormwater pipe between Water and Nikau Sts
• Jeffie removed of over 2,000m3 of spoil, installed 208 concrete segments and made a sweeping curve underground to avoid field of hard volcanic basalt rock
• Encountered the remains of an ancient tree (likely whau) 20,000+ years old
• Jeffie now en route to Ecuador for a new name and a new job.

Mt Eden & Karangahape • Ground investigations along the Western Line at Normanby & Boston Rds scheduled from 1 June
• Followed by further investigations at Porters Ave, Fenton St and Haultain St in mid‐June
• Mt Eden buildings are now largely empty, and asbestos surveys have begun. Demolition for Mt Eden scheduled to start by the end of August 2019
• Asbestos surveys for Karangahape due to start mid‐October, and demolition is scheduled to start in early 2020.

C8: Ōtāhuhu works update • Works carried out by KiwiRail • New 1.3km long section of track along main line
• Four new cross‐overs to allow trains to switch between tracks
• New overhead line and signal equipment

Schools art initiative for Aotea Station • Auckland Year 6 school kids invited to create artworks for the Aotea station
• Theme is where they would like to go on a CRL train
• Artworks being printed onto 10cm square tiles to be built into the station, with a copy also given to participating schools
• 3000 artworks received already • Hoping for works from all of Auckland’s 540 schools 28

Reviewing the CLGs With the CRL project about to enter its main construction phase, it's timely for CRLL to take stock of how well the CLG groups are operating and make any necessary changes or improvements to ensure CLGs work better for everyone involved. What have we done already?
• Canvassed opinions of existing members on their CLG experience so far and what changes, if any, they'd like to see.
• Gained feedback from CRLL staff involved in the CLG process • Taken a more interactive approach to meetings – more two‐way communication • Trialled new approach to gathering CLG input on draft management plans for Mt Eden and Karangahape demolition processes ‐ will now be adopted
• Holding meetings more frequently than the minimum outlined in CRL's consent conditions (for those areas not yet 'in construction') to improve knowledge sharing and working relationships.
• Invited a Waitemata Local Board representative to join each of the four CLG groups. 30
Specific Aotea CLG feedback • 13 members responded to say they wanted to stay on as part of the CLG • Four members have left the group – but they are all part of organisations that have other representatives as CLG members.
• 12 people have yet to respond – and CRL is following up on these. • Meeting times: Majority preference for an afternoon meeting (starting 4 or 4.30pm) rather than a breakfast meeting or keeping the previous early evening time slot.
• General feedback: Meetings are worthwhile and useful; recent meetings are more engaging, interactive and solutions‐focussed than in the past.

Some key recommendations 1. Establish a Group Charter (Terms of Reference) with a Code of Conduct so everyone is clear about responsibilities and expectations (a copy will be emailed to you soon) 2. Review current membership with a view to improving representation and attendance 3. Meet more often during intensive construction periods to keep project staff and CLG members better informed 4. Create visible online access to CLG presentations and minutes to improve transparency 5. Develop more informative online content on the CLG section on CRL's website
6. Make CLG members more visible to those in the community so they know who is representing them (short member profiles online under CLG group pages) 7. Increase communication with CLG members between meeting dates to provide important news, milestones or developments in a timely way. 8. Seek regular feedback from CLGs to ensure the meetings remain fit for purpose and all parties are receiving benefit from their involvement. 9. Call for Expressions of Interest from the community to improve representation on CLGs, if necessary.
