What’s happening first in Albert Street? • Utility investigations starting week of mid-late August – taking about a month to complete
• Utility diversions starting at Wyndham St end of Albert St – completed in stages from end of August 2019 until mid 2020
• Seven canopy removals (various locations along Albert St and cnrs of Victoria & Wellesley) – December 2019 to Q2 2020
• Site establishment at Bledisloe carpark – Q4 2019
• Piling and D-wall construction for Aotea Station ground support – starts Q2 2020

Utility investigations – starting August • Approx 12 investigations needed between Wyndham & Wellesley Streets to pinpoint the location of existing underground utility services to help design their relocation ahead of Aotea Station construction.
• By confirming our assumptions about where exactly the utilities lie, we de-risk the utility diversion works by providing a safer and more robust design for our contractors.

• Some noise from concrete cutting, minor excavation and Hydrovac machine (sucks material away from services)

Utility diversions – late August to mid-2020 Why do we need to divert utility services?
• Some services clash with the alignment of the piles that will support the station structure
• There is insufficient space for utilities infrastructure between the underground roof of the station and road level
• It’s safer to excavate and construct the station with all the utility services out of the way.

Managing utility diversions • We appreciate that utility diversions will be noisy and disruptive and will work to manage negative impacts as much as practicably possible.
• Property access will be maintained. However, there may be times when we need to liaise with you about the timing of works directly outside your premises to minimise disruption, i.e. weekends or evenings.
• Pedestrians may need to be re-routed around works on the footpath. • We will use water-filled barriers and temporary fencing wherever possible to maintain visibility for businesses.

Developing management plans for stages 1 to 3 of Aotea utility relocation works • A suite of management plans are required by the CRL designation and the regional resource consent to manage the effects of construction.
• The management plans are developed by subject matter experts, covering such areas as: • Traffic, access and parking
• We plan to bring our draft management plans to this CLG for input later this month. • The subject matter experts who have drafted the plans will attend the next CLG meeting so you can provide your feedback directly and ask any questions.
• Noise and vibration • Social impact and business disruption • Air quality
• Contamination • Trees and vegetation
• The plans will then be finalised before undergoing an independent peer review and lodgement with Auckland Council. • We’re hoping to gain council approval prior to the end of August to enable us to start utility relocation works.

Consultation to inform draft management plans • The plans outline how we will manage effects during the utility diversions – noise, dust, potential access and parking disruption, etc. • We need to understand how people could be affected – so that the management plans we prepare are effective. • The CLG provides valuable input and feedback.

• Asbestos testing in Mercury Lane & East St buildings to be demolished – July to Sept 2019
• Asbestos removal and soft-strip/salvage – Sept to Dec 2019

C1 & C2 update
C2 Albert Street works • Wyndham St has reopened after three years • Aboveground works have started, including installation of new utility services, tree pit construction and new finished footpath and road carriageway
• Tunnel floors and walls are largely complete with only one more section of roof to be poured
• Tunnel box construction expected to be completed by July
• Canopy removals are underway The north tunnel – breaking through to Britomart Station

An area will remain fenced off to store construction materials • Canopy demolition outside Auckland Council and Manhattan Apartments is complete • Reinstatement works underway outside council and Manhattan with scaffolding scheduled to be removed through July and August • Scaffolding erected outside AA building, demolition works have commenced 23

C1 Britomart & Lower Queen St • Construction of tunnel base slabs underneath the CPO is complete for both tunnels and onstruction of tunnel walls has commenced
• Construction of tunnel base slabs in Lower Queen St is complete and construction of tunnel walls has commenced
• Preparatory works within station underway to allow installation of an additional – fourth – escalator and replace the existing ones with metro grade escalators
