COMPELLING STATISTICS AND PERFORMANCE METRICS DEMONSTRATING WEBSTER’S MARKET STRENGTH

Retail & Shopping Sector in Webster
THE REGIONAL RETAIL ENGINE
An exceptional concentration of shopping options defines Webster’s retail landscape. Global chains, national anchors, and locally owned standouts sit in close proximity, creating a high-impact commercial hub that attracts steady traffic from around the Houston–Galveston corridor. The density becomes an advantage, making it easy for shoppers to visit one store in Webster and seamlessly continue to the next, turning quick trips into well-rounded shopping outings.
THE WEBSTER ADVANTAGE
Webster benefits from being surrounded by major suburban communities, placing more than a million consumers within a 15-mile radius. The expansive reach is why major retail anchors continue to cluster here and why many Webster businesses outperform other locations. Strong traffic counts, high visibility, and steady spending power from medical professionals, aerospace employees, and families traveling between Houston and Galveston create exceptional opportunities for retailers. With thousands of visitors arriving throughout the week for hotels, attractions, and regional destinations, Webster’s stores benefit from constant foot traffic that keeps the retail corridors thriving.
The high level of activity extends throughout the week. The daytime surge driven by regional employment amplifies retail demand. At the same time, evenings and weekends remain lively thanks to hotels, attractions, and entertainment districts that funnel additional customers into Webster’s shopping corridors. The result is a level of consistency and a volume of transactions that smaller suburban communities cannot generate.
Retail anchors like American Furniture Warehouse, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and Nordstrom Rack benefit from the strong synergy created by the surrounding shopping landscape. Even with Baybrook Mall just beyond city limits, its proximity strengthens Webster’s draw—bringing in steady traffic that fuels performance for retailers throughout the corridor.
Global retailer IKEA is on the horizon, accelerating the corridor’s momentum and expected to attract more than a million shoppers annually. Its $16 million investment in a Webster location highlights the understood strength of the market and the clear pull this setting already commands. Recruited by the City over time in partnership with Kimco, the project will amplify Webster’s retail appeal, generate new jobs, and strengthen the City’s position as a major regional shopping hub.
Retailers benefit from higher-than-average household incomes, supported by the highskilled, high-paying jobs in the aerospace, medical, and energy sectors in and around Webster, which push household incomes above regional averages. The spending power, combined with steady hotel occupancy and a steady stream of visitors, translates into higher-than-average retail spending, generating tens of millions in annual sales tax revenue that support City services. The City, in turn, invests in well-maintained streets and shared spaces, enhanced public safety services, strategic tourism promotion, and ongoing support for the sectors that bring people into Webster. The result is an environment where businesses thrive.
From established corridors to emerging districts, Webster stands out for its accessibility, density, and draw.

Enertainment & Dining Sector in Webster
RESTAURANTS, ENTERTAINMENT & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
In Webster, dining and entertainment venues are central to the visitor experience. A dynamic mix of restaurants and experiential destinations serves every appetite at any hour. From power lunches between medical appointments to post-conference happy hours, and from family dinners after a day at Great Wolf Lodge to birthday celebrations at Topgolf or Chicken N Pickle, Webster is where visitors of every kind gather to eat, drink, play, and celebrate.
THE WEBSTER ADVANTAGE
A major reason the dining and entertainment sector performs so well is Webster’s remarkable daytime population. While many suburban communities experience a noticeable drop in population during the day as residents commute out for work, Webster experiences the opposite. The City’s daytime population surges to more than twelve times its residential base, a pattern that remains steady year-round. People arrive for countless reasons, and regardless of their purpose, they reliably spend time and money at Webster’s restaurants and entertainment venues.
That momentum continues into evenings and weekends—activity remains elevated, supported by strong dining, nightlife, and alcohol sales trends shown on the following page. The result is a level of traction and weeklong consistency that smaller bedroom communities do not generate. With large suburban markets surrounding the City, Webster becomes the natural gathering point—a place where people from every direction converge for something convenient, familiar, and reliably lively.
The City hosts a lineup of high-performing entertainment destinations, including Cinemark, Altitude Trampoline Park, Urban Air, Little Woodrow’s, McIntyre’s, and Main Event.
The dining scene is equally compelling, with standouts like Delta Blues, El Tiempo, Vida Mariscos, Noon Mirch, KPOT, Gauchos Do Sul, Pluckers, and Paris Baguette—alongside fast-casual staples like Chipotle, Whataburger, and Jimmy John’s.
Webster also has a growing “Eatertainment” segment, which merges food with recreation. Venues like Topgolf and Chicken N Pickle represent this model in Webster, offering groupfriendly environments that complement the City’s broader dining and entertainment mix.
The dining and entertainment venues benefit from a strong customer base with higherthan-average household incomes and an entertainment spend that exceeds regional norms—29% higher than the Houston MSA average within five miles and 20% higher within ten miles. Coupled with Webster’s ranking as the second-highest performer in alcohol sales in Harris County, just behind Houston, these indicators reflect a market that consistently invests in dining and entertainment.
Behind the scenes, these successes are reinforced by fast, collaborative development, friction-free permitting, strong City support, and meaningful promotion—an approach that allows restaurants and entertainment venues to launch quickly, operate confidently, and continue to evolve. The result is a collection of high-performing, high-vibe destinations that keep the region returning again and again.
Notes From the Kitchen
A remarkably high daytime population, paired with above-average household incomes and some of the strongest entertainment spending in the region, creates a market where dining and entertainment concepts perform reliably and consistently.

Hospitality & Lodging Sector in Webster
22 HOTELS SUPPORTING WEBSTER’S TOURISM ECONOMY
Attracting visitors is one achievement; inspiring them to stay is another. Webster excels at both, standing at the center of a high-demand regional landscape.
Within its 6.7-square-mile footprint, Webster delivers an extraordinary concentration of lodging options—22 hotels and nearly 2,400 rooms. This broad range of hotels anchors the City’s visitor economy and reinforces Webster’s role as the region’s hospitality hub.
Webster has a hotel count comparable to cities five to ten times its size. Even in peak travel season, Webster’s hotel occupancy has exceeded the City of Houston averages, demonstrating healthy demand and a thriving hospitality market. Other cities within a 15-mile radius draw from the same demand, but Webster works tirelessly to ensure consistent, measurable results.
THE WEBSTER ADVANTAGE
Webster’s lodging landscape is shaped by steady, multi-sector demand. To meet that demand, the City offers a lodging mix that reflects both scale and variety, featuring trusted national brands like Marriott, Hilton, and IHG. Hotels range from extended-stay suites to select-service and fullservice properties, ensuring that whatever the reason and however long the stay, a room is ready in Webster.
At the center is Great Wolf Lodge Texas Gulf Coast—a decade-long vision that opened in August 2024. Featuring 532 suites, a 92,000-squarefoot indoor water park, a 61,000-square-foot entertainment center, and a 13,351-square-foot conference center, the resort quickly became one of the brand’s top performers. The Webster lodge regularly leads the chain in birthday celebrations, maintains exceptionally high occupancy, and earned the Houston Business Journal’s Landmark Award for Hospitality—underscoring Webster’s position as a premier tourism destination.
Webster’s hotel sector succeeds in concert with the region’s biggest draws. Space Center Houston hosts over 1.5 million visitors annually, with signature events like Galaxy Lights and Moon 2 Mars spiking overnight demand. Lone Star Flight Museum attracts aviation enthusiasts for exhibits, education, and large-scale events throughout the year, including the Wings Over Houston Airshow. The Port of Galveston is one of the nation’s busiest cruise terminals and brings cruise passengers through Webster, prompting overnight stays either before departure or upon returning to port. Absolute Volleyball Academy hosts major annual statewide tournaments that draw teams and their families into Webster, and generate overnight stays. For all of these regional draws, City initiatives and partnerships strengthen the visibility of Webster’s hotels and encourage visitors to stay, play, and dine in the City.
Business travel is equally influential. Aerospace, healthcare, and energy companies bring professionals from around the world to Webster, and a growing “bleisure” trend—accelerated by Great Wolf Lodge—allows these visitors to balance business commitments with leisure experiences. The steady flow of corporate, technical, and medical travelers adds a crucial layer to Webster’s lodging demand, creating the need for different room types, lengths of stay, and amenity packages. The owners of Holiday Inn Express, a select-stay hotel, recognize Webster’s diverse demand and are developing a TownePlace Suites next door to serve the extended-stay segment. They know the market, trust the environment, and see Webster as a place where doubling the recipe delivers results.
Webster’s hospitality success is rooted in more than demand. The City promotes hotel visibility, supports tourism initiatives, connects operators with key attractions, and continues to grow the commercial landscape that draws visitors for business and leisure. With this foundation,Webster’s hotel market is poised to grow even stronger.
