It‘s hard to believe that March is already here! With the newness of spring comes opportunities, fun events, and so much to be grateful for right here in Weatherford. In pursuing and fulfilling our mission of “Building a Strong Community“, the absolute most important element of that is our PEOPLE Those individuals include our residents, community leaders, educators, volunteers, first responders, City employees and so many more
Weatherford is a special place, and the people that choose to live and work here are the reason. I am especially proud of our City of Weatherford team. The dedication and hard work of our 380 employees is second-to-none, and I am so grateful for each of them and the remarkable work they do These men and women strive for excellence on a daily basis and their efforts keep our City running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with an outstanding level of customer service and dedication to our citizens.
Our thriving local economy and the residents that support it are truly the heartbeat of the community Organizations like our Chamber of Commerce work tirelessly to promote and ensure prosperity in our community, and their efforts are immensely important and appreciated.
This spring, I encourage each of you to get out and enjoy all the wonderful things our community has to offer, and join with me in sharing gratitude for our community Thank a first responder, support a local business, attend a community event, or shake the hand of a visitor and welcome them to Weatherford. Happy Spring!

Please join us in welcoming our newest Police Officers, Trace Camp and Antonio Camacho Both come to us through our lateral program with 3 1/2 years of experience as Officers Being able to hire Officers with experience adds depth to our force and allows these new-to-us Officers to be integrated into our family quicker than having to start from scratch They are able to get out on the streets sooner and help our Officers keep Weatherford safe!
Weatherford PD has a new mascot, Barker! WPD's very first Police Chief in 1919 was B.R. Barker, it sounds a lot like Parker, our favorite county, and "Bark" is K9 Jack's favorite thing to do when he sees a criminal. What could be a better fit?
Barker’s been visiting preschools this month and the kids love him! He’s an important part of teaching kids that Police Officers are friendly and here to help
DID YOU KNOW... There is a great deal of knowledge and preparation that goes into the construction of a new fire engine In preparation of the engine that will serve Station 1, Fire Chief Jonathan Peacock, Lieutenant Bert McFadin, Engineer Justin Henning and Engineer Ryan Whiteman traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin, home of the Pierce Fire Apparatus Manufacturing Plant During the first day the team toured the plant to review the build process from beginning to end This tour allows for greater understanding of how all the components come together and helps the team know where to look if any questions come up during the prebuild meeting While there, the team spent time going over the blue prints and specifications sheets for our selected apparatus This is an extremely tedious process that requires mechanical understanding Our Apparatus Committee is comprised of a group of people that have years of experience in the fire service and specialize in certain parts of the field The team also had access to the plant floor and were able to see any apparatus that were in the build process They also had the advantage of visiting with several other fire departments that were there for prebuilds or final inspections which was beneficial as well Once the visit was completed, the team all felt very good about their decisions and are excited to see the finished project. The engine is expected to be completed by early 2025 and begin serving the citizens of Weatherford.
