ANDREW’S ANNOUNCEMENTS A MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER

Hello Vallejo The City is off to a fast start in the new year! The City Council held its first meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, where it thanked outgoing Vice Mayor Peter Bregenzer and welcomed Councilmember Diosdado “JR” Matulac as the new Vice Mayor. Congratulations to Vice Mayor Matulac on this new role. At the meeting, the Council approved an agreement for the Broadway Navigation Center to serve as a warming shelter for unhoused individuals that will be open every night through March 31, 2026. Previously, the City only opened a warming center during specific weather conditions, which made it difficult for those in need to plan for and access it. By offering nightly shelter, we hope to increase awareness, participation, and provide additional services to help individuals transition into stable housing. The City Council also voted to temporarily pause homeless encampment clean-ups for one month to help ensure that the upcoming Point In Time (PIT) count is accurate. The PIT count is a nationwide census of individuals experiencing homelessness, which helps determine funding for Vallejo and communities across 2

the country. While the temporary pause is in place, City staff will conduct additional trash removal from encampments and coordinate outreach by service providers to encampment residents. We still need volunteers to assist with the PIT count, which will occur on January 29, 2026. You can learn more and sign up in this week’s edition of The Weekly. We’re also excited to introduce Brad Paul as Vallejo’s new Interim Economic Development Director. Brad brings a wealth of experience to the role, and we’re thrilled to have him on board. Finally, this weekend we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in Vallejo and across the nation. Several events are planned throughout the city to honor Dr. King’s legacy and his contributions to civil rights. We encourage you to join us in these meaningful celebrations. Meet Vallejo’s Interim Economic Development Director

City Manager Andrew Murray is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Paul as the City’s Interim Economic Development Director. Brad brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of regional economic development to the role, and we are excited to have him leading the department as we begin 2026. Most recently, Brad served as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), and later as Deputy Executive Director for Local Government Services with the consolidated ABAG/Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) staff. In these roles, he oversaw key regional programs, including: • Bay Area Housing Finance Authority • San Francisco Estuary Partnership • Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) • And other initiatives supporting local governments across the region Brad’s career spans the nonprofit and private sectors, government, academia, and philanthropy, giving him a unique perspective on economic development and community engagement. Speaking about his new role, Brad shared: “I’m excited to step into this position, given the incredible assets Vallejo offers to new businesses and those looking to expand. From its historic architecture and waterfront location to its high-speed ferry service and Mare Island, Vallejo is well-positioned for growth. Coupled with a strong talent pipeline from Cal Poly Maritime Academy, Touro University, and Solano Community College—and some of the most affordable commercial and residential property remaining in the Bay Area—Vallejo is truly an attractive destination for investment.” City Manager Andrew Murray added: “Brad’s combination of experience and skills makes him an excellent fit for Vallejo. Community Clean-Up on the Bay Vine Trail

On Saturday, January 10th, City of Vallejo Beautification Commissioner Erin McGarry and Rooted Vallejo hosted a successful community clean-up along the Bay Vine Trail.

Highlights from the day:

• 19 dedicated volunteers joined the effort. • 6 large tires were removed from the trail. • The Vallejo Public Works team provided a truck and trailer, which were filled with the collected trash. All debris was properly disposed of thanks to their support. A big thank you to everyone who participated in making Vallejo cleaner and greener! Want to get involved in future clean-ups? Pacific Gas and Electric Company Former Vallejo MGP Boat Launch Parking Lot Restoration Project Weekly Report 1/9/26 PG&E provides this update on restoration work occurring in the boat launch parking lot that is part of a larger 26acre City of Vallejo-owned property at the corner of Curtola Parkway and Sonoma Boulevard (site). This is the final phase of the restoration work associated with PG&E’s former Vallejo Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) environmental cleanup project. In December 2023, PG&E completed cleanup work under the oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to address impacts from a gas plant that operated at the site from 1872 to 1930. To allow for restoration work to occur safely, Mono Street and the boat launch parking lot will be closed to public traffic until after restoration activities are complete in late January or early February 2026. Upon completion of restoration activities, PG&E will return control of the site to the City of Vallejo. Safety signage will be in place to direct construction-related traffic.

The City of Vallejo is offering a Free Neighborhood Dumpster to help residents with exterior clean-up projects. This program is available once a year per block and gives neighbors a chance to work together to clean up their street. To qualify, five residents from the same block must sign up, and all participants must have current garbage service. Main applicant must own and occupy residence. The dumpsters are for outdoor use only and are issued on a first-come, firstserved basis.
