ANDREW’S ANNOUNCEMENTS A MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER

Hello Vallejo 2026 is officially underway as we wrap up the first full week of the year! Vacations are behind us, schools are back in session, and we remind everyone to drive safely and stay alert for children on their way to and from school. After several rainy days, we’re enjoying a break in the weather with blue skies and sunshine—though temperatures remain on the cooler side. You may have heard the sad news that one of our major employers, Mare Island Dry Docks, is reducing its workforce after not being selected for a major U.S. Coast Guard contract. The Solano County Workforce Development Board is providing affected workers with timely access to job search assistance, retraining programs, and other resources. Our goal is to help these individuals get back to work as quickly as possible. This week, I and other City staff held site visits with The Roosevelt Group, a consultant engaged by the City last month to help attract new federal funding and investment to expand shipbuilding and repair in Vallejo. We met with representatives from the Mare Island Company, Cal Poly Maritime Academy, and Congressman John Garamendi’s office to discuss strategies to reinvigorate Vallejo’s waterfront. 2

Another important effort coming up is the Point-InTime (PIT) Count, a national initiative mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to count the number of individuals experiencing homelessness. Vallejo’s PIT Count will take place on January 29, and City staff are actively recruiting volunteers to assist. You can find more details in this issue of the Weekly. We encourage community members to participate in this vital process. Later this month, the City will host two public workshops related to the Vallejo Waterfront Grant Implementation Plan. Through this grant, the City has received funding to install new planting, irrigation improvements, and pedestrian amenities. These workshops will focus on identifying locations for the new improvements. We want to hear your ideas and preferences as we work to create a greener, more resilient waterfront for Vallejo. Moving Into 2026: How the Vallejo Resilience Network Is Delivering Real Community Impact

s we move into 2026, the Vallejo Resilience Network reflects a year of strong collaboration between community organizations and City partners working together to strengthen neighborhoods across Vallejo. Through coordinated action, shared responsibility, and a focus on prevention, this network has delivered visible improvements in community safety, environmental health, and youth well-being. What sets the Resilience Network apart is not any single program, but how City departments and community partners have aligned their efforts to support residents in practical, meaningful ways. Throughout 2025, Healthy Vallejo’s field teams worked alongside Code Enforcement and Public Works to address long-standing environmental and safety concerns along rail corridors and other high-need areas. City staff supported site identification, safety coordination, equipment access, and debris removal— allowing cleanup crews to focus on sustained, on-theground work. This partnership led to the removal of large amounts of debris and overgrowth across multiple corridors, transforming areas that had posed ongoing safety risks into cleaner, more accessible spaces. The work required persistence and coordination, particularly in locations with steep terrain and dense vegetation, and reflects the value of City and community teams working in step. Code Enforcement played a key role in advancing a prevention-first approach by working with community partners to support seniors and disabled residents who needed help addressing minor property issues. Rather than allowing situations to escalate, City staff coordinated with Healthy Vallejo to connect residents with assistance—helping prevent fines, reduce stress, and keep people safely housed. This effort highlights how enforcement and prevention can work together, using early intervention and supportive pathways to address challenges while maintaining neighborhood standards.

In parallel with neighborhood improvement efforts, the Resilience Network continued investing in youth and community health. Club Stride and the Center for Urban Excellence facilitated youth workshops and community education focused on substance-use prevention, coping skills, and community resilience. City partners supported these efforts by helping align activities with broader public-health and safety goals, ensuring that prevention strategies reached both school-based and community audiences. Together, these efforts reinforced the importance of education, dialogue, and harmreduction as part of a comprehensive approach to community well-being. As the Resilience Network moves into 2026, the foundation built over the past year positions Vallejo for continued progress. The collaboration between City departments, community organizations, and residents has strengthened trust, improved coordination, and demonstrated what is possible when systems work together rather than in silos. In the year ahead, partners will continue neighborhood improvement efforts, expand prevention and education opportunities, and bring the community together through shared activities that reflect Vallejo’s commitment to health, safety, and opportunity for all. The Resilience Network shows that when City leadership, frontline staff, and community partners align around a shared vision, the result is real, lasting impact—visible on the ground and felt across the city as we step into 2026. elcome to installment of the State Route—29 (SR-29)) Pavement Rehabilitation and Complete Street Project Newsletter. Winter is here and with that a lot of weather that can slow down progress. Our partners at Bay Cities continues to work on multiple alley ways along SR-29). The rain has halted work for now, but the completion of the alleys should be seen by late January. A question that arises is when will the work on the pavement start? That is scheduled for the Fall of 2026. The work being done now is part of the complete streets rehabilitation. This is the foundation for the ADA complaint sidewalks, the bike lane, and many of the items spoken about in the last issue of the newsletter. The City of Vallejo is offering a Free Neighborhood Dumpster to help residents with exterior clean-up projects. This program is available once a year per block and gives neighbors a chance to work together to clean up their street. To qualify, five residents from the same block must sign up, and all participants must have current garbage service. Main applicant must own and occupy residence. The dumpsters are for outdoor use only and are issued on a first-come, firstserved basis.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Former Vallejo MGP Boat Launch Parking Lot Restoration Project Weekly Report 1/2/26 PG&E provides this update on restoration work occurring in the boat launch parking lot that is part of a larger 26acre City of Vallejo-owned property at the corner of Curtola Parkway and Sonoma Boulevard (site). This is the final phase of the restoration work associated with PG&E’s former Vallejo Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) environmental cleanup project. In December 2023, PG&E completed cleanup work under the oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to address impacts from a gas plant that operated at the site from 1872 to 1930. Get Home in Time for What Matters with the I-80 Express Lanes

I-80 Express Lanes in Solano County are open and ready to help you arrive on time when it matters most. Express Lanes provide drivers with the choice for a faster, more reliable trip. All drivers must have FasTrak to use the lanes. The lanes will operate 7 days a week, from 5 AM to 8 PM. Tolls are shown on overhead signs along the highway and increase as traffic increases and decrease as traffic decreases. Carpools with 3 or more people and motorcycles can use the lanes for free. 2-person carpools can use the lanes for half-toll. Solo drivers pay full tolls. Carpools and motorcycles must have a FasTrak Flex Toll Tag mounted in the vehicle and set properly to receive free or discounted tolls. Income-eligible drivers can also apply to receive discounts to use the I-80 express lanes.
