What a weekend for our city! I hope many of you were able to enjoy both Pista Sa Nayon and the Chelu Car Club Car Show downtown on Saturday. With perfect weather and thousands of visitors filling Vallejo’s Downtown and Mare Island waterfront, it was a great day for our community. The fun continues this week.
Today, June 11, marks the opening day of the Solano County Fair at the Vallejo Fairgrounds— celebrating its 77th year.
Tomorrow, June 12, the 2nd Annual Field Day— hosted by Vallejo’s own LaRussell—will be held at Setterquist Park from 4–7 p.m. This free community event is a wonderful opportunity to come together, connect, and enjoy local talent. On Sunday, June 14, the Butterfly Festival will take place at Vallejo’s People’s Garden at 1055 Azuar Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event celebrates monarchs and

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, staff presented several budget scenarios for consideration. The Council offered feedback and approved the first step of the process with requested adjustments. Staff will now revise the proposal and present a balanced budget to the Council on June 23th. If further changes are needed, those will be brought forward on A special June 30th meeting. Finally, congratulations to all graduating seniors from the Vallejo Unified School District. We are proud of your achievements and excited for everything you will accomplish in this next chapter. You are our future leaders, and we celebrate you.

County Honoring Centenarians
The Solano County Board of Supervisors is inviting the community to help identify local centenarians for recognition by the Board of Supervisors later this fall as part of the 20th annual Centenarian Commemoration Celebration.
Now in its 20th year, the program has become one of the County’s most cherished traditions, celebrating the lives, legacies and wisdom of residents who have reached the extraordinary milestone of 100 years or more. To date, the Board has honored 347 centenarians, representing more than 35,000 combined years of life experience.

City of Vallejo Secures State Grant to Create New Downtown Park
The City of Vallejo is taking another meaningful step toward revitalizing its historic downtown. The City successfully secured a Clean California Grant from the California Department of Transportation to create a brand new public park in the heart of downtown.
The project aims to bring fresh energy and natural beauty to an area rich with history and community significance. Over the past several months, City staff have been hard at work shaping the vision for this new greenspace, ensuring the project meets grant requirements and stays on schedule.
While the final design is still being refined, early renderings offer a glimpse into what could soon become a vibrant gathering place for residents, families, and visitors. The park is expected to include new landscaping, improved walkways, and inviting public spaces designed to enhance the overall downtown experience.
More details on the finalized design and construction timeline will be shared soon. Stay tuned as Vallejo continues its work to transform and re energize the historic downtown district.
Mare Island Causeway Bridge Update
Great progress continues on the Mare Island Causeway Bridge project! Here’s where things stand:
• Bridge tower painting: 100% complete
• Fender system painting: 100% complete
• Mare Island logo painting: 100% complete
• Handrail painting: 50% complete
• Guardrail post installation: 60% complete
• Broken pile replacement and bent cap extension: complete
• Work under and on top of the bridge deck: ongoing
• New sidewalk installation: ongoing
• Light pole and lighting installation: 50% complete
Overall, the project is about 60% complete.
Due to weather and material availability delays, the anticipated completion date is now mid-February 2027.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Vallejo Police Department Town Hall regarding the Drafted Personnel Complaints Policy. We appreciate the community members who took the time to attend, ask questions, share concerns, and provide thoughtful feedback during the public comment period.
Community input remains an important part of strengthening transparency, accountability, and communication between the Vallejo Police Department and the community we serve. All questions submitted during the Drafted Personnel Complaints Policy Town Hall and public comment period, along with responses from the Vallejo Police Department, have been compiled in the new “Community Questions and Responses” section located within the “File a Complaint or Compliment” page on VallejoPD.net.

What’s That White Box?
If you’ve noticed a small white fixture in your neighborhood with the City of Vallejo logo on it, you may have wondered what it is.
Those are drinking water sampling stations, and they’re one of the many ways Vallejo Water Department monitors drinking water quality throughout the city.
The City of Vallejo operates 37 water sampling stations located across Vallejo. At each station, Water Quality Laboratory Analysts collect samples directly from the water system and test them for a wide range of drinking water quality indicators. These stations allow staff to collect samples that provide a consistent picture of water quality throughout the distribution system — the network of pipes that delivers water to homes and businesses.
Why Do We Sample Water?
Extensive water quality testing takes place before water ever reaches your tap. But testing doesn’t stop there.
Vallejo Water also monitors water quality throughout the distribution system to verify that water remains safe and meets all regulatory requirements as it travels through miles of pipelines to customers.
What Do We Test For?
Samples collected from these stations help staff monitor a variety of important water quality indicators, including:
• Chlorine residual
• pH
• Bacteria
• Other measures of water quality
One particularly important measurement is chlorine residual, which helps confirm that a safe level of disinfectant remains in the water as it moves through the distribution system. Maintaining proper chlorine residuals helps prevent bacterial growth after treatment and ensures water remains safe all the way to your tap.
Water Department staff also routinely flush hydrants, adjust treatment processes, and monitor system conditions to help maintain water quality throughout the city.
Protecting Public Health Every Day
Because these stations are located throughout Vallejo, they help Water Department staff evaluate water quality in specific geographic areas if residents report concerns related to water quality, taste, odor, or color.
Most people never see the extensive work that goes into delivering safe, reliable drinking water. These sampling stations are one small but important part of Vallejo Water’s commitment to protecting public health and ensuring high-quality drinking water is available whenever you need it.
