Hello Vallejo Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! As we approach the end of 2025, we reflect on the progress we’ve made together and look forward to an exciting year ahead. The City of Vallejo remains committed to improving the quality of life for our community, and 2026 promises even more positive change.

Community Support Two significant long-term projects to assist our unhoused neighbors opened in 2025. Alongside programs like IHART and other community partnerships, we remain focused on creating sustainable solutions and making meaningful progress in this area.

Public Safety Police and Fire staffing has grown, and new initiatives are on the horizon. In 2026, you’ll see expanded security measures, including private security patrols, new security cameras, and support from the California Highway Patrol. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office will also begin patrolling in Vallejo, strengthening our safety network.

Charting The Future The City Council has committed to Goal Setting in 2026. Aligning our vision for the city’s future will help chart a path forward that leads to a successful outcome. Ensuring we have a livable, safe, affordable city for all of Vallejo’s residents is a commitment that we all share.

Infrastructure Improvements We’ve invested heavily in our roads. Design and planning for two major projects are complete, and construction will begin this spring. Our goal is to maintain a steady cycle of paving projects— both current and future—to enhance road quality across the city. 2

Notice of Holiday Closure for Vallejo City Hall City Hall will be closed for the holidays, as it traditionally is, from Wednesday, December 24th, through Thursday, January 1st. City Hall will reopen on Friday, January 2nd. During the holidays: • Staff will be available by phone or email, except for the observed holidays of Christmas (December 25th) and New Year’s (January 1st), and scheduled vacations. • There will be a temporary pause on water service shutoffs during this period. • Water payments will be accepted again in person starting January 2nd when City Hall reopens. City of Vallejo Staff Spreads Holiday Cheer

City of Vallejo employees came together this season to make the holidays brighter for our community. From toy giveaways to supporting local families and volunteering at the food bank, staff showed their commitment to giving back. Over the past weekend, the Vallejo Police and Fire Departments participated in a festive gift and toy giveaways, bringing joy to children and families. Meanwhile, the Finance Department rolled up their sleeves to help prepare food at the Solano County Food Bank. In addition, the Housing Department, joined by several other City departments, hosted an Adopt-A-Family event last week, ensuring local families had a memorable holiday. Vallejo’s Investment to Better Roads

A recent article in the San Francisco Chronicle highlighted road conditions across the Bay Area, naming Vallejo among the cities facing significant challenges. While we recognize these concerns, it’s important to note that the article did not reflect the substantial investment Vallejo has made in roads since the passage of Measure P in 2022.

Thanks to the support of Vallejo residents, Measure P has enabled the City to launch a comprehensive, long-term road improvement strategy. City staff have been working diligently behind the scenes—securing funding, developing project plans, issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and initiating construction efforts. Two key projects currently underway are a Cape Seal initiative and a Grind and Overlay initiative, both of which will be completed in Spring 2026. The City Council will also consider, in January 2026, a proposal for an additional investment of $11 million for street projects to be implemented in Summer 2026. Below is a breakdown of Vallejo’s road improvement investments over the past and current fiscal year. Category

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Former Vallejo MGP Boat Launch Parking Lot Restoration Project Weekly Report 12/19/25 PG&E provides this update on restoration work occurring in the boat launch parking lot that is part of a larger 26acre City of Vallejo-owned property at the corner of Curtola Parkway and Sonoma Boulevard (site). This is the final phase of the restoration work associated with PG&E’s former Vallejo Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) environmental cleanup project. In December 2023, PG&E completed cleanup work under the oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to address impacts from a gas plant that operated at the site from 1872 to 1930. To allow for restoration work to occur safely, Mono Street and the boat launch parking lot will be closed to public traffic until after restoration activities are complete in January 2026. Upon completion of restoration activities, PG&E will return control of the site to the City of Vallejo. Safety signage will be in place to direct construction-related traffic.

Leadership Vallejo Hosts Annual Government Day at City Hall

Last week, Leadership Vallejo held its annual Government Day at Vallejo City Hall, giving participants an inside look at local government operations. The current cohort included City of Vallejo’s Planning & Development Director, Kristin Pollot, among other community members. During the session, participants engaged with several department heads to learn about their roles and ongoing efforts to improve city services. They also took part in a mock council meeting, stepping into the shoes of council members and community participants for a hands-on experience. Councilmember and Leadership Vallejo alum Alexander Matias helped facilitate the Mock Council Meeting event, sharing insights from his own leadership journey. After eight years of dedicated service as the Development Permits Coordinator for the City of Vallejo’s Building Department, Irma Montano will be retiring at the end of the year. Irma brought a wealth of experience to Vallejo, having previously served as a Building Permit Technician for the City of Richmond. Her expertise and commitment have been invaluable to the department and the community. In retirement, Irma looks forward to spending more time with her family and engaging with her community, as well as enjoying some well-deserved travel adventures. Celebrating Community Building Through Connection This Holiday Season As the holiday season invites reflection, gratitude, and togetherness, it is also an opportunity to recognize the many ways community is built—not through a single model, but through collaboration, shared purpose, and sustained investment in people. In Vallejo, community building takes many forms. Some efforts are rooted in neighborhoods and physical spaces, strengthening local environments and creating visible improvements. Others focus on people and networks—connecting residents across neighborhoods through education, leadership development, and shared learning. Together, these approaches form a stronger, more resilient whole. Through Proposition 64 Youth Prevention & Opportunity Program funding, the City of Vallejo and its community partners—Club Stride, Healthy Vallejo, and the Center for Urban Excellence—work collectively as the Vallejo Resilience Network. While each organization brings a distinct approach, their work is intentionally aligned around prevention, youth empowerment, and long-term community well-being. Healthy Vallejo builds community through hands-on engagement and neighborhood stewardship, creating pathways for young people to gain job skills while improving public spaces through beautification and cleanup efforts. These activities strengthen residents’ sense of ownership, pride, and connection to place. The Center for Urban Excellence focuses on urban leadership and systems-level engagement, supporting youth and community members in understanding structural challenges and developing innovative, community-driven solutions that advance equity and resilience. Within the Resilience Network, Club Stride’s role centers on community networking, education, and youth-led prevention efforts. Through culturally relevant cannabis prevention education, youth-led workshops, and healing-centered storytelling, Club Stride connects young people across neighborhoods into a broader learning and leadership network. This work emphasizes youth voice, lived experience, and peer leadership, while also incorporating digital media and storytelling as tools for education, reflection, and civic engagement. Together, these approaches demonstrate that community building is not limited to geography alone. It is also built through relationships, shared learning, and sustained engagement—creating social capital, strengthening trust, and fostering collective responsibility. Through regular workshops, public community activities, neighborhood improvements, and prevention education, the Resilience Network supports hundreds of young people each year while engaging families, schools, and local stakeholders. During this holiday season, the work of the Vallejo Resilience Network offers a powerful reminder: community is strongest when different approaches are valued and aligned. Whether through neighborhood action, leadership development, or education and storytelling, these efforts come together to support a healthier, more connected future for Vallejo. Get Home in Time for What Matters with the I-80 Express Lanes

I-80 Express Lanes in Solano County are open and ready to help you arrive on time when it matters most. Express Lanes provide drivers with the choice for a faster, more reliable trip. All drivers must have FasTrak to use the lanes. The lanes will operate 7 days a week, from 5 AM to 8 PM. Tolls are shown on overhead signs along the highway and increase as traffic increases and decrease as traffic decreases. Carpools with 3 or more people and motorcycles can use the lanes for free. 2-person carpools can use the lanes for half-toll. Solo drivers pay full tolls. Carpools and motorcycles must have a FasTrak Flex Toll Tag mounted in the vehicle and set properly to receive free or discounted tolls. Income-eligible drivers can also apply to receive discounts to use the I-80 express lanes. The Integrated Health & Resource Team (IHART) About IHART The Integrated Health and Resource Team (IHART) is a civilian-led crisis response program dedicated to providing compassionate, community-based support in Vallejo. We handle low-level 911 calls without police assistance, co-respond with officers, and offer follow-up case management to ensure long-term stability for individuals in crisis. IHART bridges the gap between emergency services and community resources, fostering trust, safety, and well-being.
