BACK-TO-SCHOOL TRAFFIC SAFETY School is back in session the week of August 12 for the Paramount Unified School District. The City encourages everyone to take extra precautions for our students when driving around town. To ensure the safety of our students, the Sheriff's Department will be implementing a Back-to-School traffic enforcement campaign. Citations will be issued for the following violations, with associated fines:

Ignoring pedestrians in a crosswalk, getting too close to them, or driving by too fast

Slowing down or stopping in the roadway and affecting another car’s movement

Not stopping for a crossing guard while raising their stop sign

Stopping at a red curb to unload or load passengers

Double parking or blocking driveways

Operating a vehicle while holding a cellphone (even if it’s not to your ear)
Please remain vigilant and watch for children near schools, at bus stops, on sidewalks, and in streets and school parking lots. By adhering to these safety guidelines, we can work together to create a safer environment for everyone in our school zones.

Join your friendly Paramount Sheriff's Deputies on a walking lesson from the Paramount Sheriff’s Station to Lincoln Elementary School. Students will learn about important street safety rules and walking tips to prepare them for the school year. There will be two classes held on August 7, from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10 to 11 a.m. Meet at the Sheriff’s Station, 15001 Paramount Blvd. For more information, please call (562) 220-2002.
