¡LAS PANTERAS RUGEN “ROAR”! Como parte del intento de ser una Escuela Civil y Segura en Paramount Park, nuestro equipo de Escuelas Civiles y Seguras trabajo con todos los miembros del personal de la escuela para crear una Orientación hacia el Éxito. Con mucha naturaleza nuestras Panteras crearon ROAR! El personal trabajó arduamente para crear un lema que refleje los valores académicos y de comportamiento en nuestra escuela. El ROAR (rugir) de Las Panteras ayuda a guiar a los estudiantes y personal con: R O A R
As part of Paramount Park Middle School’s approach to being a Safe and Civil School, our Safe and Civil team worked with all staff members this year to create the school’s Guideline to Success. It seems only natural that the Panthers created ROAR! The staff worked hard to create a school wide motto that reflects the academic and behavioral values of our school. The Panther’s ROAR helps guide students and staff members to: R O A R
Respect Others Own Your Actions Act Safely Rise to the Challenge
From the moment students enter the campus they are reminded with ROAR of the positive impact they can have on the school community. As a result of the ROAR implementation, students are recognized monthly during the 1st and 3rd quarter
assemblies. Here, parents can take pride in their child’s achievement and celebrate their success. Students are excited to receive not only their ROAR certificate, but also personal pride, teacher attention, and fast passes for lunch. The student response to ROAR has been extremely positive. One recent ROAR award recipient, 8th grader Sinai Vera says that “by following the ROAR motto, I am motivated to do something better than the day before. If I make a mistake, it is never too late to fix the problem.” Character building traits such as mutual respect, individual accountability, concern for the well-being of others, and courage to face adversity, are equally as important as academic success. By encouraging students to take an active role in applying the ROAR philosophy, students will not only benefit the school environment, they could also impact their future.

Desde el momento en que los estudiantes entran al plantel se les recuerda el lema ROAR y el impacto positivo que este trae a su comunidad. Como resultado de esta implementación, los estudiantes son reconocidos mensualmente durante las asambleas del primer y tercer trimestre. De esta manera, los padres pueden orgullosamente ver los logros de sus hijos y celebrar su éxito. Los estudiantes se emocionan al recibir su certificado de ROAR, pero también tienen un orgullo personal, atención especial de los estudiantes y pases para la línea rápida del almuerzo. Los estudiantes han respondido positivamente a ROAR. Una reciente ganadora del certificado ROAR, Sinaí Vera de 8º grado, comento: “Al cumplir con el lema ROAR, me siento motivada de mejorar cada día, si me equivoco, sé que nunca es tarde para reparar el problema”. Los rasgos de la formación de carácter, tales como el respeto mutuo, responsabilidad individual, preocupación por el bienestar de los demás y el valor para enfrentar los problemas, son tan importantes como el éxito académico. Al motivar a nuestros estudiantes a tomar un rol activo y adoptar la filosofía del lema ROAR, los estudiantes no solo se benefician del ambiente escolar, sino que al mismo tiempo impactan su futuro. Bianca Gaspar, Ninth grade; Alexis Aguirre, Tenth grade; Christina Huerta, Eleventh grade; Daisy Nava, Twelfth grade; Geidi Azpeitia, Judge’s Award-Best Use of Color; Melanie Ortiz, Judge’s Award-Best Composition; Nataly Campos, Superintendent’s Award; Miriam Torres TAG Chairman’s Award; Stephanie Castaneda, Parks and Recreation Commission’s Award; Jennifer Martinez, Chamber of
Commerce Award; and Alexis Aguirre, Mayor’s Award. The Board of Education members and Superintendent Dr. Ruth Pérez recognized the students for their artistic excellence and presented them with a Certificate of Achievement. Superintendent Dr. Pérez thanked John Nowlin, Show Chairman from the Traditional Artists Guild, for his continued support of our students in the area of visual arts.
Board of Education meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. in the Boardroom at the District Office, 15110 California Avenue, Paramount, and are open to the public.
