On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!
Mark Keppel School students hit the ground running in April for their first ever Jog-A-Thon fundraiser. All students, from kindergarten through fifth, excitedly ran laps on the field and high-fived teachers and parents
who came to cheer them on. Dr. Sanco was the master of ceremonies for the event taking the microphone and starting various classes off with a quick stretching session. Children wore lap sheets
on the back of their shirts to tally the number of laps they jogged. Students asked their family and friends to sponsor their efforts as a flat donation. Each child had 30 minutes to jog or walk as many
laps as possible. Students raised over $4,000 to purchase 250 additional books for our library, to pay for fieldtrips and student incentives. The jog-a-thon was not just a catalyst to raise money but to build a
culture among the children working together and fostering school and community spirit. All in all, Mark Keppel School’s first ever jog-a-thon was a runaway success!
¡En sus marcas, listos, fuera! Los estudiantes de la Escuela Mark Keppel ejecutaron en abril su primera carrera Jog-A-Thon para recaudar fondos. Todos los estudiantes de kínder a quinto, con entusiasmo corrieron alrededor de su campo deportivo y agradecieron profundamente a los maestros y padres de familia que asistieron para apoyarlos. La directora Dr. Sanco fue la maestra de ceremonias para el evento y con ayuda de su micrófono, inicio a los estudiantes de varias clases con una sesión de estiramiento. Los estudiantes llevaron una hoja para marcar cada vuelta a la cancha mientras corrían. Los estudiantes pidieron a sus familias que patrocinaran sus esfuerzos con una donación. Cada niño tuvo 30 minutos para correr o caminar las más vueltas posibles.
Los estudiantes recaudaron más de $4,000 para comprar 250 libros para nuestra biblioteca, para pagar por paseos educativos y para incentivos para ellos mismos. La carrera no fue solo un medio para recaudar dinero, sino también
una manera de crear una cultura de compañerismo entre los estudiantes, para trabajar juntos e instituir un espíritu de comunidad. ¡En fin, la primera carrera Jog-A-Thon fue un gran éxito!
