Assembly Speaker Rendon, local businesses, volunteers hold successful ‘Back2School’ event ROAD TO RECOVERY!
I
Students from Paramount USD and Our Lady of the Rosary School took part in the event.
t started when California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon donated headphones to local students in need, which will help them with distance learning during the ongoing pandemic. When local businesses and residents learned of his generosity, they quickly pitched in. Northgate Gonzalez Markets donated 100 backpacks filled with school supplies, and a flood of additional donations soon followed. On September 29, a group of eager Paramount volunteers conducted a successful drive-though “Road to Recovery Back2School” giveaway. Other business donors were CareMore Multi-Services, Domino’s, Farmers Insurance (Sammy Kotob Agency), Farmers Insurance (Kurt Wolf Agency), GM Properties, Kustom Made Graphics, LGH Ceramics, Lyon and Lyon Properties, Max B. Martinez DDS, Vicky Professional Services, WaveFront Technology, Weber Metals and World Energy Paramount. Other donors were Mayor Peggy Lemons, Vice Mayor Brenda Olmos, City Councilmember Isabel Aguayo, Paramount Unified School District Board President Vivian Hansen, Margie Domino, Nicole Duckworth, Rose Pasqual, Paramount Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Barbara Crowson and Chamber representatives Tony Warfield and Dora Sanchez. Hard-working volunteers who made it happen came from Bayfront Youth & Family Services, the City of Paramount, Paramount Unified School District, Latinas Art Foundation, the Paramount Chamber of Commerce, Paramount-Tepic Sister Cities and the Paramount City Council. We sincerely thank all our donors and volunteers!
