Paramount Chamber Awards Outstanding Businesses for Contributions to Paramount and Installs New Officers

ach year we see the changing of the guard at the Paramount Chamber of Commerce. This year they installed Jon Tanklage of Marukan Vinegar USA as President. This is the second time he will serve as Chamber President and Jon expressed his excitement to serve this time around. With some past experience, he looks forward to going the extra mile and to see new and great things emerge. He is already making plans to see innovative and up to date changes in what the Chamber has to offer the City of Paramount. Special thanks were made the the Major Sposnor Weber Metals and Otto Fuchs Company and to SoCal Edison for sponsoring the centerpieces. As Mayor Martinez and other government officials paid honor to the Outgoing President, Brenda Olmos, they recogonized the great strides that Brenda and AppleCare Medical Management – a Part of OptumCare accomplished this last year. Most notably

are the Healthy Paramount campaigns that continue with monthly events and incentives for a healthy and active lifestyle. Also, was the First Women in Business & Leadership Luncheon this last spring that plans to become an annual event. The Chamber made some very special awards to some businesses, clubs and individuals that made distinct contributions to the community:

Ambassador of the Year

Awarded to Rudy Sandoval (Real Estate Homes & Investments) for his volunteering and strong efforts to meet the new business in Paramount and new members of the Parmount Chamber of Commerce.

Award of Excellence

Awarded to the Paramount Friends of the Library for their never-ending efforts to the community in support of the local library branch and providing events that enrich the community. One of the most important is the Summer

Reading Program to encourage the love of reading in our young readers. They also sponsor some fun activies throughout the year which they couldn’t do without the generousity of their sponsors.

Mayor’s Award

Mayor Martinez presented a special award to Casa Adelita and Jesus Perez for the family atmosphere in his restaurant and for their strong community presence and outreaches at Christmas time. Casa Adelita celebrates the Posada by giving blankets out to the children each year.

President’s Award

Outgoing President Brenda Olmos presented Northgate Gonzalez Markets a special award for many contributions they make to Paramount. Besides creating a spectacular shopping and dining environment inside their store they bring that outside the store with the enhance shopping area at Town Center West. They also are involved in the Paramount Education Partnership and contribute to several organizations

that benefit the residents. The Paramount Chamber of Commerce is proud of its businesses, service clubs and residents for all that they do to make Paramount a wonderful place to live and work.
