Farmers Market Moves to Saturdays
The weekly daytime Farmers Market is a great way for the community to stock up on fresh produce, a variety of packaged and prepared foods, as well as artisan craft items. Vendors accept EBT and WIC. To reach more residents and provide space for additional vendors, the market will relocate to Paramount Park on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., starting August 20. So spend a part of your Saturday strolling the booths and have an outdoor bite eat. Paramount Park is at 14400 Paramount Blvd. There is plenty of parking. It’s back to school season! The City of Paramount encourages everyone to take extra precautions for our students when driving around town.

The Paramount Public Safety Team will be conducting Back-to-School traffic enforcement and issuing citations for violations including, but not limited to, the following (with fines listed): • Stopping at a red curb to unload or load passengers ($232). • Slowing down or stopping in the roadway and affecting another car ($238). • Not stopping for a crossing guard with their stop sign raised ($238). • Ignoring pedestrians in a crosswalk, getting to close to them, or rushing by too fast ($238). • Operating a vehicle while holding a cellphone (even if it’s not to your ear) ($162). • Double parking or blocking driveways ($53). • And speeding or driving unsafely can be even more expensive. Watch out for children near schools, at bus stops, on sidewalks, and in streets and school parking lots. Be on the lookout for crossing guards and obey their signals. By following these key tips, and encouraging your kids to do the same, we can help make our school zones safer for everyone.
