The City is looking for residents to fill a vacancy on our PublicArts Board.
This is a great way to get involved in shaping public art spaces in town.The board meets every 3 Wednesday of the month in theAnnex Building at 320Alexandria Blvd. In these meetings, they make decisions on murals, sculptures, and various other art projects that come before them.
Applications will be accepted until May 8, 2026, at 5 p.m. Non-Residents may apply!
The term will end on December 31, 2027.
Be sure to get your application in before the window closes!

The 2026 City Election is coming up on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and if you’re considering serving your community, now is the time to start preparing!
Candidate election packets are available for pick-up beginning in March at the City Clerk’s Office We encourage prospective candidates to review materials early and plan ahead for the qualifying period.
To Qualify, You Must:
• Be a qualified elector
• Have lived within the incorporated City limits for at least one consecutive year immediately prior to the time for qualifying
• Submit all qualifying paperwork to the City Clerk no later than the qualifying period
2026 Qualifying Period:
August 3, 2026 – Noon on August 7, 2026
(During normal business hours in the City Clerk’s Office)

CentralSquare, our online bill pay system, has recently been upgraded and now requires multi-factor authentication to sign in to your account.
Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security when logging in.After entering a username and password, users will receive a onetime verification code via email, which they must complete to log in.
We want to make sure our customers are cyber-protected and this adds another layer to that protection.
The city’s contractor, B3 Construction Corporation, is continuing with construction of the improvements for Magnolia Street at Sweetwater Creek.The existing crossing at the creek is in the process of being demolished and removed.The installation of the new box culvert is planned to start the week ofApril 20, 2026. Once the box culvert is installed, the contractor will continue with road restoration and the installation of a new storm sewer system and potable water line.
The box culvert will increase the hydraulic capacity of the road crossing of Magnolia Street, improving the culvert's ability to convey stormwater from the creek. In addition, the new culvert will improve the overall resilience of the crossing.
We have included a picture of the box culvert that was installed at McKinnonAvenue (inAlafaya Woods) for reference, so residents can see what a box culvert looks like at the end of a project. The construction project timeline is on schedule.

RIVERSIDE PARK
Starting Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Riverside Park will begin the first of a two-phase parking lot resurfacing project
Phase I (one) - Will consist of closing the north end of the parking lot to allow concrete work, including the relocation of ADA Parking spots and sidewalk repairs, followed by a complete asphalt re-milling. All park users will need to enter Riverside Park at the south end, by the skate park, and use the sidewalks to access the community center, pool area, or playground.
Work is scheduled to take up to two weeks, pending the vendor's schedule and weather.
During phase one of this project, access to the multipurpose field and tennis/pickleball courts will be closed.
Phase II (two) - The south end will begin immediately after the north end of the parking lot is reopened. More information about phase two will be shared once maintenance of traffic (MOT) has been reviewed and approved. Information will be updated as it becomes available

Our staff has been hard at work upgrading the Cultural Center at Oviedo on the Park, both inside and out.
The exterior renovations began with the removal of the patchy grass on the side lawn and its replacement with durable artificial turf. Crews also removed plants affected by the recent cold snap, replaced them with heartier plants, and landscaped around them. Inside, crews removed the old carpet, which was installed in 2015, and replaced it with neutral colors, while redoing the baseboards. The facility looks fresher and amazing and we are putting the finishing touches on for the June 26 OPEN HOUSE for the public to see for free! th

We want to congratulate Firefighter Danny Forrest and Police Officer Ryan Dauzat for their designation as Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year on April 16th. Both were chosen and awarded this esteemed honor by the American Legion Oviedo Memorial Post 243 for their outstanding work in the community.

A-Shift was back out doing more extrication training and onApril 15, they were focused on patient removal techniques. Our firefighters love this training so they can keep their skills sharp!
TheAnnualTour De Force Bike ride from North Miami Beach to Daytona Beach Shores took place the week ofApril 13-17 and Oviedo Police Officers participated!
TheTour De Force ride is an annual event that raises money to support the families of fallen Florida Law Enforcement Officers. It started in 1997 after the death ofTrooper Robert Smith and has grown every year.
On Day 5, our officers, along with Councilmember Jeff Boddiford and Deputy Fire Chief Nick Dorey rode fromTitusville to Daytona Beach shores for a total of 53 miles that day In total, the ride is 270 miles up the East Coast. Well done to all who participated!
