Thinking About Running for City Office?
The 2026 City Election is coming up on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and if you’re considering serving your community, now is the time to start preparing!
Candidate election packets are available for pick-up beginning in March at the City Clerk’s Office. We encourage prospective candidates to review materials early and plan ahead for the qualifying period.
To Qualify, You Must:
•Be a qualified elector
• Have lived within the incorporated City limits for at least one consecutive year immediately prior to the time for qualifying
•Submit all qualifying paperwork to the City Clerk no later than the qualifying period
2026 Qualifying Period:
August 3, 2026 – Noon on August 7, 2026
(During normal business hours in the City Clerk’s Office)

City elections are non-partisan, at-large, and City Councilmembers serve two-year terms.

PUBLIC WORKS
The Public Works team has been busy working to establish an easy-to-use storyboard where citizens can check on the progress of any of our capital improvement programs and repairs happening around the city. This map shows all projects for:
East Magnolia Street is closed for extensive construction and repairs. February 9, 2026, and is expected to last approximately 6 to 8 months for the duration of the project. Residents living in this area will still have access to the road, and local deliveries will be allowed.
Through traffic will not be permitted down East Magnolia. We recommend that residents follow the posted detour signs and drive cautiously in the affected area to ensure the safety of the workers.
The entrance to Sweetwater Park is open.

Thank you to everyone who came out for BBQ with Heroes at Mission BBQ on February 16th. We had a great time talking to everyone and enjoying some tasty lunch!
Dry Conditions
Due to extreme cold and little rain, conditions outside are dry. We are asking everyone to please be careful outside if you are burning debris, using fire pits, or operating any lawn equipment that can spark a fire in areas of dry brush or grass.
The rainy season is not expected until late May/June, so conditions may be dry for some time.
Our firefighters are prepared to fight fires, so please call 9-1-1 if you see black smoke coming from an area where there are brush and trees.
Always call 9-1-1 if you see a fire growing out of control.
Swimming
The City of Oviedo has two public pools available for anyone to use either to join group classes, swim lessons, or personal fitness.
The Big Kahuna Pool is located at the Oviedo Gym and Aquatics Center, 148 Oviedo Blvd. Riverside Pool is located at Riverside Park, 1600 Lockwood Blvd
