The City of Oviedo PublicArts Board is inviting artists to participate in two upcoming public art projects designed to celebrate the City’s culture, history, and natural beauty
Oviedo Boulevard Sculpture Installation
The second project seeks a sculpture for a designated space on Oviedo Boulevard at Center Lake Lane.
The artwork should represent the flora and/or fauna of the City of Oviedo. It may be pictorial or abstract and may feature a single or group representation.
The selected artist will receive a stipend of $25,000 for design and execution.
Artists are required to:
Provide liability insurance covering the full scope of the project.
Use durable materials suitable for Oviedo’s outdoor environment, capable of withstanding heavy rain, hurricane-force winds, sun, and humidity
Submissions for the sculpture are due by midnight, February 2, 2026

Throughout February, the City of Oviedo will be celebrating Black History Month with a social media post every day using the elements from our website and the beautiful mural at Round Lake Park created by Xavier Moss.

Oviedo's St Patrick's Day Festival is a free, family-friendly Irish festival.
Oviedo's St Patrick's Day Festival is a family friendly celebration of all things Irish. Featuring live Irish entertainment byThe Byrne Brothers, fresh Guinness, Smithwicks and Harp on draft, food trucks featuring unique Irish cuisine, and more!
For the kids we will have Finnegan Dance Studio's Irish Step Dancers, stilt-walker balloon artists, and face painting. Kids are also encouraged to dress up!
This is a free festival to attend, but beer punch cards must be purchased for Guinness, Smithwicks, and Harp beer on tap. For ages 21 and over only

The City of Oviedo has closed East Franklin Street between the North Division St. roundabout and North CentralAve/SR 434 Monday, January 26, 2026 to Wednesday, February 4, 2026 for the Franklin Street trees improvement project.The project consists of the renovation of the tree vaults and installation of sabal palms.Asingle lane business entrance will be provided for theAce Hardware along E. Franklin St. and Solary Park will be accessible through the parking lot adjacent to N. Division St. Maintenance of traffic will be in place. Please drive with caution if traveling in this area.
East Magnolia Street closure has been moved to February 4, 2026, due to pipe replacement and road reconstruction.The closure is expected to last approximately 6 to 8 months for the duration of the project. Residents living in this area will still have access to the road, and local deliveries will be allowed. Thru traffic will not be permitted down East Magnolia. We recommend that residents follow the posted detour signs and drive with caution when traveling in the impacted area for the safety of the workers. Thank you for your patience while this construction is happening.
We want to say a huge thank you the University of Central Florida chapter of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) for adopting a portion of Lockwood as part of the City's Adopt-A-Road Program! Great job Oviedo Firefighters
On January 21, around 8 a.m., there were reports of black smoke showing in the parking lot at Mitchell Hammock Road andAloma. A-Shift firefighters immediately jumped into action and arrived on scene minutes after the first reports came in, to find a car completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters started to work to get the fire out, extinguishing the flames.All the training we post about was put into play as they pulled hose lines and saws to make sure the fire was completely extinguished. Thankfully there were no injuries.

We would like to address the concerns of our citizens when it comes to seeing kids in the roadways on eMobility devices. We have received messages from concerned drivers and parents about large groups of kids seemingly ‘taking over’the roadways on these devices. Our officers are conducting traffic stops, talking to kids and parents, and issuing citations for these violations, and handing out informational pamphlets. We want to make everyone aware of safety and how these devices are supposed to be used. Reckless driving of these devices, such as impeding traffic, weaving in and out of traffic and driving the wrong way can lead to serious injury or death, which is something we want everyone to avoid. Please talk to your kids about how to safely operate them, wearing helmets, safety equipment and knowing the law

Water Rebate Check Presentation
The City of Oviedo has a water conservation rebate program in place for residents who want to save money on their monthly water bills. Residents can install a rain sensor, which will shut off sprinklers when it starts to rain. Once the sensor is in place, with a receipt, residents can get a rebate once they fill out the form!All they have to do is contact our Water Conservation Coordinator, Jay Stainer, aka. Mr Aqua Man, and he will help guide through the entire process. Thank you resident Marisa, who got the ball rolling at her home! Thank you to Mayor Megan Sladek, City Manager Bryan Cobb, and Mr.Aqua Man for presenting the check to Marisa!

The City of Oviedo has many pickleball courts for visitors to come and enjoy one of the fastest growing sports in the nation!
Pickleball is a great way to get not just a great cardio workout, but also a way to spend time with friends and make new ones in a competitive environment. We have pickleball courts at Round Lake Park and Riverside Park. Pickleball is for all ages, with my kids discovering how fun it is while getting fit!
