ARTINTHECHAMBERS
The first 2026Art in the Chambers exhibition features a collection of paintings by Hagerty High School Students.
Art in the Chambers enters its second year, featuring local art and artists in the City Council Chambers at 400Alexandria Blvd., Oviedo.
The fourth exhibition will display 30 paintings by Hagerty High School students, led by art teacher Omar Otero, who is also displaying a painted door.The proposed theme of the artwork on display is chickens, with students choosing their own artistic styles to represent them.
The free exhibition will be open to the public fromApril 6, 2026, until July 6, 2026, during regular office hours. Some of the paintings are for sale, and 25% of the sale amount will be donated to the PublicArt Fund.
There was a presentation with Mr. Otero and some students at the Oviedo City Council Meeting on Monday,April 6, 2026. We would like to thank them all for their unique and creative paintings for this exhibition.

The 2026 City Election is coming up on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and if you’re considering serving your community, now is the time to start preparing!
Candidate election packets are available for pick-up beginning in March at the City Clerk’s Office We encourage prospective candidates to review materials early and plan ahead for the qualifying period.
To Qualify, You Must:
• Be a qualified elector
• Have lived within the incorporated City limits for at least one consecutive year immediately prior to the time for qualifying
• Submit all qualifying paperwork to the City Clerk no later than the qualifying period
2026 Qualifying Period:
August 3, 2026 – Noon on August 7, 2026
(During normal business hours in the City Clerk’s Office)

Alligator Mating Season is here and everyone should be aware of a greater presence in and around bodies of water.

Keep your pets on a leash and keep the kids out of the edge of the water, especially at dawn and dusk
Never swim outside posted swimming areas
Pay attention to your surroundings and know there are alligators in the water (lakes, ponds, rivers)

FromApril 12 to May 23, the left-turn lane and the left northbound lane on Oviedo Mall Blvd will be closed nightly from 7:00 PM to 6:00AM.The right lane will remain open to traffic.
Additionally, fromApril 12 to May 23, the left-turn lane and the left eastbound lane on Dovera Drive will be closed nightly from 7:00 PM to 6:00AM.The right lane will remain open to traffic.
These lane closures are necessary for road restriping, installation of new blinking stop signs, and the removal of mast arms at the intersection.
Please follow all posted signage and drive with caution if traveling in the area to ensure the safety of workers and vehicular traffic.

Tussock Moth Cater9illar
This time of year is when the caterpillars of the native tussock moth come out in force. They leave the cover of their host plants (usually oak trees) in order to find a place to make their cocoons, which look like cotton balls. No need to worry, they don't sting! However, their fuzzy hairs can irritate the skin similar to fiberglass so it is best to just leave them be. Soon they'll be in their cocoons well on their way to becoming moths!
• Tell the kids not to touch them or play with them if you see them at the playground
• Hairs can get stuck in the skin causing irritation
• Remove visible hairs with tape
• Wash the area with soap and water and apply ice or baking soda/water paste to soothe the skin
• If the reaction is severe, consult a doctor

Recently,A-Shift was at the yard doing extrication training with saws and spreaders.This training is vital for saving lives. It trains firefighters to safely and quickly remove trapped patients from vehicles to minimize injuries, and builds skills as cars become increasingly technologically equipped.

The Big Kahuna Pool is located at the Oviedo Gym and Aquatics Center, 148 Oviedo Blvd. Riverside Pool is located at Riverside Park, 1600 Lockwood Blvd
