A special time of year O’Fallon ranked as second safest city in America The City of O’Fallon is the second safest city in the country, according to CQ Press’ annual survey of data comparing crime numbers, rates and trends throughout the country. This is the third year in a row that O’Fallon has been eligible for the rankings. In 2008, the City ranked as the third safest city in America and in 2009, O’Fallon ranked as the country’s 14th safest. “This professional ranking is a tremendous honor for our City and our residents, and it shows that public safety is a top priority for O'Fallon,” said Mayor Bill Hennessy. “It is a testament to the fact that we have one of the finest Police Departments and tremendous first responders. Our City is governed by the vision to be the ‘Best city in Missouri,’ and this ranking is just further evidence that we continually strive to achieve that goal.”

hat do you like most about celebrating the holidays? For me, it’s those beloved Christmas traditions that have been passed down in our family for many years. That’s what this time of year is all about. Remembering those we love and taking an opportunity to spend time together. Here in O’Fallon, we have our own holiday tradition, the Celebration of Lights. For 19 years, families have been piling in their car or van to drive through beautiful Fort Zumwalt Park. This year, everyone who visits will see more than a million brilliant lights and great displays, including some new ones. And, as always, the proceeds will benefit local not-for-profit organizations. Plus, every attendee will receive a valuable flyer offering great discounts for shopping in O’Fallon. I encourage you to take advantage of these tremendous discounts as you do your holiday shopping. Remember to “Keep it in the ‘O” this year as you shop. You will find everything you need and help support your community. Finally, as we come to the end of 2010, let me close by thanking each of you for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor. It is truly a tremendous honor to work for you in this great City. 2010 has been a wonderful year for O’Fallon, and our City Council and I are committed to making 2011 even better! New water meters being installed throughout Northern O’Fallon

Crews from O’Fallon Water and Sewer and the Siemens Company are busily working throughout many O’Fallon neighborhoods. These crews are installing new automated water meter readers for all O’Fallon Water customers, and they will be working throughout December and January. Installations will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Crews will be carrying identification throughout the entire installation process. Should you have any questions or concerns about the installation or crews in your area, please call O’Fallon Water and Sewer at 636-281-2858.
