This year marked the 80th anniversary of the largest amphibious invasion in military history — the day the Allies began to take back Europe during World War II and put an end to Nazi tyranny. What many people may not know is that Miami Beach played an essential role in preparing an estimated 500,000 troops that came to Miami Beach during the war years to train in our hotels and beaches as you’ll read in “Paradise at War” on page 18.
