Eclipse On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, an annular solar eclipse will cross North, Central, and South America. The “Ring of Fire” will be visible in parts of the United States, Mexico, and many countries in South and Central America. In Mesa, the annular solar eclipse begins at 8:08am and ends at 11:09am. ADULT SOLAR SYSTEM SCIENCE Tues | Oct 10 | 6:30pm – 7:30pm | DR Learn about the upcoming solar eclipse and general eclipse science and history. We’ll have ideas for engaging young people with the eclipse event and information on safe viewing. ECLIPSE TALK WITH AD ASTRA STARGAZING Sat | Oct 7 | 3:00pm – 4:00pm | RM Ad Astra Stargazing will present this lecture on eclipses, what makes them possible, and safety measures to take when viewing the upcoming eclipse. Eclipse glasses will be distributed after the program (while supplies last). FAMILY SOLAR SYSTEM SCIENCE Sat | Oct 7 | 10:30am – 12:00pm | DR Learn about the upcoming solar eclipse with demonstrations, crafts, and instructions for safe viewing at this family-friendly event. NOW SHOWING: E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL Mon | Oct 9 | 3:00pm – 5:00pm | RM Celebrate the upcoming eclipse (October 14th) with us by watching a beloved, classic alien adventure, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Eclipse glasses will be distributed after the program (while supplies last). WALK-IN WEDNESDAYS PRESENTS: ECLIPSE Wed | Oct 4 | 2:00pm – 3:00pm | MN Walk in and learn about the upcoming solar eclipse with demonstrations, crafts, and instructions for safe viewing.

Donate Day BOOK DONATION DRIVE Sat | Oct 21 | 9:00am – 12:00pm | RM Donate books, magazines, movies, and music without even leaving your car! Volunteers will be on hand to unload your donation. One hundred percent of the proceeds from our used book sales stay with the library to support programs and services. Can’t make it? We accept ongoing donations at the Main Library. 3D PRINTER TRAINING ⚙ ☑ † Mon | Oct 16 | 10:30am – 12:00pm | DR Learn the basics of using our Ultimakers. Once you complete the training and sign a waiver, you can start reserving our 3D printers during THINKspot business hours. Prerequisite: must be able to operate a laptop and access the internet.

NEW STREAMING SERVICE! Stream the world’s largest collection of on-demand full-length music performances, concert films, and music documentaries from your device. Qello Concerts is available as an “Extra” through Libby (Greater Phoenix Digital Library). Enjoy music from the 1920s to today’s hottest artists, including Prince, Queen, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Nirvana, Tupac, Slipknot, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, John Legend, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Pavarotti, Celine Dion, Eagles, David Bowie, and so many more.

10TH ANNIVERSARY In October of 2013, our first THINKspot makerspace opened at the Red Mountain Library. Ten years later we’re still making things, and now we have a THINKspot in all three full-service branches!

The expansion of Monterey Park is underway and will include baseball and softball fields, pickleball courts, ramadas, and...an express library! The Mesa Express Library at Monterey Park will feature new technology to allow for various self-service options. It is scheduled to open in fall 2023. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for the latest updates.

Once you complete the training and sign a waiver, you can start reserving the Glowforge during THINKspot business hours. LET’S PLAY WITH PAPER ⚙ Tues | Oct 17 | 6:00pm – 7:00pm | RM Enjoy an hour of paper crafting. This month we’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with papel picado.
