A PROVEN TRACK RECORD The City of Lynchburg has a long history of successfully hosting sporting events at the regional, collegiate, state, and national levels. From championship tournaments and multi-sport competitions, the city has welcomed thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators. Supported by a diverse collection of athletic facilities and experienced community partners, LYH continues to provide the resources and expertise needed to host successful sporting events.
Legacy Events Virginia 10 Miler Since 1974, the Virginia 10 Miler has been one of the region's premier road racing events, welcoming thousands of runners each fall. The event features the signature 10 Miler, 4 Miler, 4-Mile Walk, and Amazing Mile Children's Run, drawing participants from across the country to experience Lynchburg's challenging and scenic course. Storming of Thunder Ridge Hosted annually by the Jamerson Family YMCA, Storming of Thunder Ridge is Virginia's premier fully supported road cycling event. Riders travel from across the country to tackle the Blue Ridge Parkway through a variety of route options, making it one of the region's most recognized cycling events.
