GARBAGE COLLECTION - LAPORTETX.GOV/445/RESIDENTIAL-GARBAGE-COLLECTION 1. Garbage service is provided twice weekly to residents on Monday and Thursday or on Tuesday and Friday. 2. Garbage is placed at the curb no later than 7:00 AM on day of collection. 3. If a holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, the garbage pickup will be deferred until the next scheduled collection day. 4. REMINDER: ALL GARBAGE MUST BE PLACED IN A BAG.
BRUSH AND HEAVY TRASH COLLECTION - LAPORTETX.GOV/416/HEAVY-TRASH-COLLECTION 1. Brush must be placed separate from appliances, furniture, and trash. 2. The City is divided into six zones and each zone takes two days to collect. Material will be collected on one of the two scheduled days. TRUCKS WILL PASS ONLY ONCE. NO LATE PICKUPS OR SPECIAL PICKUPS. 3. THE CITY WILL NOT COLLECT ROCK, BRICKS, DIRT, ASHES, WET PAINT OR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. 4. Heavy trash in excess of ten cubic yards will not be collected. This is a pile larger than 6 ft. high x 6 ft. wide x 8 ft. long 5. PLACE NO MORE THAN 10 CUBIC YARDS 6. BRUSH AND HEAVY TRASH SHOULD BE PLACED IN FRONT OF YOUR RESIDENCE BY 7:00 AM ON THE FIRST DAY OF COLLECTION AND NO EARLIER THAN FIVE DAYS PRIOR TO COLLECTION DATE. 7. Vehicles parked in front of trash pile will prevent collection. 8. Trash stacked too close to fences, mail boxes, sign posts, under electrical wires, low hanging tree limbs, or placed too far from roadway cannot be collected.

The outdoor warning sirens are tested EVERY Saturday at NOON. They are used for chemical emergencies only.
During a chemical emergency, do not call your child’s school or try to pick your child up unless told to do so by school officials. School principals are instructed to keep buildings locked and access restricted when a Shelter in Place is in effect. Opening a door to the outside puts you and your child at risk of being exposed to a potentially dangerous chemical. Remember, we shelter in place to prevent exposure.
In the event of a chemical emergency that requires you to shelter in place: 1. GO INSIDE the nearest building or vehicle. Close all doors and windows. Turn off A/C or heating systems. Use fans to keep cool. 2. STAY CONNECTED. Visit www.laportetx.gov/stayconnected for various ways to receive information from the City during an emergency. 3. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM LOCAL OFFICIALS. The City will provide you with emergency instructions. Do not call 9-1-1 unless you are reporting an emergency at your location. Do not go outside until you are advised it is safe to do so by local authorities. Identify a safe place where family members can gather in the event of a chemical emergency, preferably in an interior room with no doors and windows. Make sure all family members know the location. Do not go outside until “all clear” has been given by local authorities.
During a chemical emergency, the City may activate the outdoor warning sirens. The sirens indicate that a chemical emergency has occurred and citizens should shelter in place. The sirens sound a “Whoop, Whoop” tone. When you hear the sirens, you should immediately go inside and follow the instructions below.
