There are many things to do at City Park; With nearly two miles of trails, there is plenty of room for everyone from leisurely walkers to vigorous joggers and kids on bicycles or scooters. Even our furry friends have a park of their own, the Bark Park. City Park is a great place for several different water activities; swimming, fishing, and kayaking are popular. Please remember to swim only in designated swim areas; there are no lifeguards on duty. There is a life jacket loaner station at the lower level picnic area for your convenience. This park is also equipped with two playgrounds, a pavillion, volleyball courts, restrooms, and pickleball courts.

Submit a reservation request for Lakeway City Park online.

Dragon Park has two playscapes, swings, a basketball court, volleyball area, picnic tables, grills, restrooms and a small athletic field perfect for baseball or soccer. There is plenty of parking and restroom facilities. The park is open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Standard Time and until sundown Daylight Savings Time.

Remember to review the park rules and regulations before requesting a reservation. For inquiries or assistance, feel free to contact parks@lakeway-tx.gov or 512-314-7530. Submit a reservation request for Dragon Park online.

Heritage Park is open to the public all year. The Heritage Center building is open to the public throughout the year on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, excluding holidays. Contact the Heritage Center Admin Assistant at (512) 608-9533, or email heritage@lakeway-tx. gov for additional information.

The Live Oak Tennis Courts are located adjacent to the Live Oak Driving Range at 509 Lakeway Drive and are available for the serious player or for family fun.
All four tennis courts are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis. Organized play occurs Saturday mornings through the Lakeway Tennis Tigers, and all are welcome.

Porpoise Park is a small, neighborhood park located in a roundabout on Porpoise Street. It is one of a handful of pocket parks in Lakeway that our residents enjoy and a perfect place for a game of Frisbee and a picnic with the kids. This small park also features a playground and decomposed granite trail. On the next bright, sunny day get a blanket, pack a lunch and head out to Porpoise Park. You’ll enjoy it! On street parking only.

The Lakeway Skate Park is located at 3103 Lakeway Boulevard at the corner of The Hills Drive and is next door to the Swim Center. It combines bowl and street elements in a complex of about 9,000 square feet. Skateboards and in-line skates only are allowed in the Skate Park; no bikes and no scooters. We strongly recommended the use of helmets, knee and elbow pads. There is no charge, and it is open to the public.

Thanks to a generous donation from Jack and Myrtle Hamilton, the Hamilton Greenbelt opened in April 1990. Several improvements and additions over the years have resulted in a first class trail network. Thanks to the donation of additional land and funds from Coleman and Mary Smith, an easement from the Lakeway Municipal Utility District and countless hours of volunteer services from Friends of the Parks, the Hamilton Greenbelt trail network, including Smith Greenbelt and Hurst Creek Preserve, now offers several miles of both developed and primitive trails that wander along Hurst and Yaupon creeks. These areas are fabulous places for family outings, walks and jogs, a bike ride, or a moment to reconnect with nature.

The Canyonlands is Lakeway’s most extensive trail network and is comprised of a 20-acre tract at Rough Hollow Cove, a major inlet at Lake Travis. It is named for the scenic canyon running through it. The canyon scenery from the overlooks is breathtakinging late fall. The foliage is spectacular with shades of yellow, gold, brown, orange and red. Early spring brings an array of color as the new leaves sprout out on the deciduous trees in the canyon.
Hiking and mountain biking are permitted in the Canyonlands. Parking is located along Trophy Drive.

Smith Greenbelt provides the citizens of Lakeway with a short, but wonderful hiking trail, which wanders along Hurst Creek. It is a fabulous place for a family outing, a lunchtime jog, or to walk the dog (on a leash, of course). The 4.5 acre greenbelt was made possible through a generous donation from Coleman and Mary Smith.
The Smith Greenbelt trail is primitive, but well maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. It is also a great place for mountain biking. A stream runs through it and the trail is interesting, on either foot or bike. It also serves as a nice little shortcut between Lohman’s Crossing and Lakeway Drive. The next bright, sunny day, pack up the family and head to Smith Greenbelt for a cool, relaxing nature walk.

The Lakeway Boulevard Hike and Bike Trail may be accessed at the intersection of Lakeway Boulevard and Lakeway Drive. From this point you may go either direction. It starts as a sidewalk on the north side of Lakeway Boulevard and quickly changes to a crushed granite path that meanders down the middle of the boulevard median, past the Swim Center and all the way to the entrance of Lakeway Estates. Going the other way will take you past a sculpture garden near Rogue’s Roost, past Duck Lake and all the way to RR 620. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on this trail.
What a wonderful place for an early morning bike ride or jog! It’s also a great place to walk your dog. Please feel free to make use of the doggie pot stations along the way.
