PARADE APPLICATIONS DUE BY JUNE 17 Irving's annual Sparks & Stripes Fourth of July Parade will be in the Heritage District on Saturday, July 4 at 9 a.m., with the sounds of marching bands, floats and all things red-white-and-blue! Following the parade, enjoy a carnival at Heritage Park located at 217 S. Main St. Applications for parade floats are due no later than Wednesday, June 17 at 5 p.m. Participants are required to attend a mandatory parade meeting on Tuesday, June 23 at 6 p.m., at Irving City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd., in the Council Chambers. Entries should be decorated SCAN ME with a patriotic theme. Visit IrvingEvents.org for more information and to complete the online parade application.
BUDGET INPUT TIME! Planning for the city’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 (FY27) budget is underway, and leadership is gathering suggestions, feedback and opinions on what should be considered for the FY27 budget, which begins Oct. 1, 2026.

City Council Restores Access to Public Transit Routes, Service Begins June 10 Public transportation service for routes 225 and 255 begin on June 10 with first two weeks free. Service for a new circulator in the Urban Center starts July 6. In May, Irving City Council approved a contract with Via Transportation to provide a transit solution to Irving residents who were affected by the discontinuation of bus routes 225 and 255 by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) last year. The contract also includes a circulator to improve mobility in the Urban Center. Routes 225 and 255 will cost $1.50 per trip. Called Irving Connector, the new transit solution will use large, handicapped accessible passenger vans that operate as a walk-on service and follow similar routes and stops as the recently discontinued DART service.
Each vehicle will include one wheelchair-secured space and seating for up to nine passengers. Reservations will not be required, and riders can use Via Transportation’s Citymapper mobile app to view real-time bus locations and purchase tickets. Irving Connector will also debut a new circulator route, The Loop at Las Colinas, which will follow a figureeight route around Las Colinas Boulevard and Lake Carolyn Parkway with thru access at O’Connor Road and Promenade Parkway. The Loop will be free, and service begins July 6 with stops at key locations connecting access to businesses, restaurants, hotels, Toyota Music Factory, residential areas around Lake Carolyn and more. Each Irving Connector route will operate daily with two vans. Adoption of the budget is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10 and the city’s budget year runs from Oct. 1, 2026 to Sept. 30, 2027. To learn more about the city’s budget, visit IrvingTX.gov/Budget and click on the "FY26 Budget Executive Summary" link for an overview of the current fiscal year budget.
