ON THE COVER WELCOME, HEALDSBURG HIGH SCHOOL INTERNS! We are excited to host 10 Healdsburg High School Juniors as part of the HHS’s internship program! The students have been matched with departments that overlap with their future interests, including Police, Fire, Engineering, Human Resources and Information Technology.
In 2003, the City joined forces with community volunteers to establish the dog park at the Villa Chanticleer. Since then, community members and City staff have been actively maintaining the park. However, high use, erosion issues, and failing amenities have posed challenges for achieving long-term sustainability. To address these issues, the City has been collaborating with dog park users on a comprehensive renovation project for the Villa Dog Park. Key features of the renovation project include: ADA-Compliant Sidewalks: Connecting the park to the playground and the Fitch Mountain Open Space Preserve, fostering seamless accessibility. Accessible Entry Points and Pathways: Making the entire park more accessible for individuals of all abilities. New Shade Structure: Providing a comfortable area for both dogs and their humans. Water Fountain Area: Adding a refreshing and playful element for our furry friends. Replacing Failing Stairway: Enhancing safety and aesthetics. New Dog Wash Station: Offering convenience for pet owners. Accessible Picnic Tables and Benches: Creating inviting spaces for community gatherings.
Beginning January 29 the Villa Dog Park will close for the renovation work. City staff will be creating a temporary dog park location at Badger Park that will be opening soon.
We anticipate the Villa Dog Park renovation work to take approximately three months to complete, so keep an eye out for a grand reopening sometime in May!
STAY SAFE THIS WINTER
The rainy season is here! Here are some tips to stay safe and ready during rain events: Stay up to date by checking your local information regularly when severe weather is on the way. Ensure your gutters and drains are free from debris. Check your supplies and go bags to ensure they are winter ready with warm clothes and fresh batteries for flashlights. Remember water depth on roads can be deceiving. Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away. Stay off of bridges over fast-moving water. If the power goes out, check on your neighbors, especially those who live alone, to make sure they are safe and warm.
The City of Healdsburg has opened a sandbag fill station at the Healdsburg Community Center (1557 Healdsburg Avenue). Sand and empty bags will be provided, however we recommended you bring: -A shovel to fill bags Gloves to protect your hands A helper to assist in filling For more information on how to fill and use sandbags, visit https://healdsburg.gov/390/StormWater, and scroll down to "Resources." For flooding, downed trees that are not blocking a roadway, or power outages, please call the City’s 24/7/365 Emergency Utility Hotline at (707) 4317000 or toll free (855) 755-6586. For emergencies that pose a threat to life and/or property, such as a downed power line, or downed trees blocking a roadway, always dial 9-1-1.

YOUR ENERGY EFFICIENT AND RESILIENT HOME WORKSHOP Join us for the ‘Your Energy Efficient and Resilient Home’ workshop at the Healdsburg Library! This free workshop will cover County resources, electrification options, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and available incentives.
