To the Healdsburg Community, The past year was bookended by major milestones in our efforts to build stronger community infrastructure. At this time last year, we celebrated the opening of a new fire substation on the north end of town — a critical resource that enhances our capacity during red-flag and other high-risk conditions. Now, as 2025 closes, we are putting the finishing touches on the Foley Family Community Pavilion — a long-planned project transforming one of our historic downtown buildings into a bright, welcoming space for community events and for the Healdsburg Certified Farmers' Market. A celebration event for the Foley Family Pavilion was held on December 15. The weather was perfect, the structure glowed with light and good cheer, and attendees remarked on the charm and promise of a new gathering space. As we say goodbye to 2025, what stands out for me is that while we work hard on infrastructure and City services, it’s the people of Healdsburg — caring, active, and connected — who truly make this place what it is. To everyone in Healdsburg, I wish you a healthy, peaceful holiday and look forward to another bright year together. Jeff Kay City Manager

WARD STREET NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
The City has contracted with BKF Engineers to start the design of the Ward Street Neighborhood Improvements Project, which includes potential infrastructure improvements within the roadways of Adeline Way, Ward Street, Palm Avenue, and South University Street. The first phase of the Project is the preparation of a Needs Assessment to identify missing areas of sidewalk and assess the pavement, utilities and drainage issues throughout the neighborhood. The Needs Assessment is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2026. Public outreach meetings will then be scheduled to review the Needs Assessment and gather input on what improvements are recommended for the construction project. Over the next several months, residents can expect to see workers in the neighborhood conducting surveys of the roadways, sidewalks and utilities. COOKING FOR THE HOLIDAY? Thank you for never pouring fats, oils, and grease (FOGs) down sinks, drains or toilets! When grease is washed into the plumbing system through your kitchen sink it sticks to the inside of your pipes. Over time, grease can build up in your home sewer pipes and the public sewer mains. Blockages can result in an expensive and unpleasant cleanup.
STORM SAFETY Storm season can bring localized flooding, power outages, and downed trees. Take time now to prepare to keep our community safe and resilient.
How to Prepare 1
Stay Informed Sign up for local emergency alerts and monitor weather forecasts for heavy rain, high winds, and possible flooding.

Prepare Your Home Clear storm drains, secure outdoor furniture, and check that gutters and downspouts are free of debris.

Make an Emergency Kit Keep water, food, medications, and key documents on hand.

Be Ready for Power Outages Keep flashlights, batteries, and phones charged.

Drive with Caution Slow down on wet roads, avoid flooded roads, and never drive around barricades: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
