■ Have your SUPERPASS or exact coins ready (no bills or change provided).

■ Step out of the shelter so the driver can see you.

■ Move to the back and leave front seats for seniors and riders with limited mobility.

■ One person per seat.

■ Keep large items, strollers and walkers out of the aisle.

■ Do not chase the bus once it has left the curb.

Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT) is a door-todoor service for residents who cannot use regular transit because of physical or cognitive challenges. Check eligibility and apply at cityofgp.com/gpat.

SUPERPASS

What is SUPERPASS?

SUPERPASS is a reloadable smart card for easy fare payment on Grande Prairie Transit.

■ Tap card on reader and a fare will be deducted from your balance.

■ Transfers: A 120-minute transfer is included. Tap again within that time and no fare is deducted.

Purchasing & Reloading

■ In person: City Hall, City Service Centre, Muskoseepi Park (Ernie Radbourne Pavilion), Eastlink Centre, New Horizon Co op Downtown Food Store.

■ Shoppers Drug Mart: Sells pre-loaded cards only (no reloads).

■ Youth SUPERPASS replacements are only available at City Hall.

Register Your SUPERPASS

Register and reload your SUPERPASS online at superpass.cityofgp.com (activation may take 24 to 48 hours). Register to:

■ Track your balance online

■ Transfer your balance to a new card if lost

FAQ’s

What if I lose my SUPERPASS?

Register your SUPERPASS online for protection.

■ If registered: Balance can be transferred to a new card.

■ If not registered: Balance cannot be recovered.

Do I need a new SUPERPASS each month?

No. Keep the same card and reload it with a monthly pass or 10 / 20 / 30 rides.

■ New or replacement SUPERPASS cards cost $5.50.

What data is collected?

SUPERPASS records fare type, travel times, routes and stop use. No personal information is collected or shared. Data is used only in group form for planning.

Fare Payment

Payment options:

■ Exact coin fare (no bills)

■ SUPERPASS

Transfers

Transfers are free on GP Transit and valid for 120 minutes. Cash users can request one from the operator and scan the barcode when boarding the next bus. Riders using a SUPERPASS do not need a paper transfer.

Transit Hours

■ Monday–Friday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Saturday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Sunday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Late Night On-Demand Service

Extends transit service utilizing Community buses which transport people from stop to stop with no transfers.

■ Monday–Saturday: 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

■ Sunday: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Holiday Service

Service on the following statutory holidays will run on the Sunday schedule:

■ Family Day ■ Labour Day

■ Thanksgiving Day ■ Good Friday

■ Remembrance Day ■ Victoria Day

■ Canada Day ■ Boxing Day

■ Heritage Day

■ National Day for Truth and Recognition

No Transit Service

■ Christmas Day ■ New Year’s Day

Fares

Effective January 1, 2026

Operators may ask for ID to confirm fare category. Prices may change without notice.

* Children five and under ride free.

Free Youth Transit

■ Youth ages 6–17 ride free with a valid Youth SUPERPASS card.

■ Cards are distributed through local schools.

■ Private, homeschooled or non-attending youth can receive a SUPERPASS card at City Hall.

■ Replacement cards cost $5.50 if misplaced.

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)

$10.25 monthly passes are available for qualified AISH recipients at City Hall after the 15 of each month. Bring your most recent AISH statement and one other piece of ID.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TRANSIT GUIDELINES

■ Pay the correct coin fare or use SUPERPASS. Operators can not provide change.

■ Use respectful behaviour: no foul language, threats, or unsafe actions.

■ No smoking, vaping, alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs.

■ Keep aisles clear; stow baggage.

■ Use headphones for audio devices.

Safety & Respect

■ Transit Operators can contact emergency services.

■ Report safety concerns to the Operator.

■ Abusive behaviour toward passengers or staff is not tolerated; privileges may be suspended.

Animals / Pets

■ Small fur-bearing and feathered pets in clean, hand held cages allowed.

■ Cages must be on your lap and kept out of aisles.

■ Certified service animals welcome.

■ Operators may refuse travel if a pet is unsafe or uncontrolled.

Bike & Ride

■ All buses have racks for 2 bicycles.

Medical Devices

■ Some electric buses may affect pacemakers or defibrillators.

■ Consult your doctor if concerned.

Grande Prairie Transit operates under the Transit System Bylaw C-1282, which outlines rules for safety, conduct and respectful use of the system.

Non compliance may result in fines or loss of service.

■ Lost something? Riders can self report a lost item on the AccessGP portal at access.cityofgp.com. Provide date, time, route and description.

How to Book

You can book an On-Demand trip in three ways:

1. App

Download the Grande Prairie My Ride app to schedule your trip. Then, use the app to:

■ Subscribe to push notifications.

■ Track your bus in real time.

■ Save frequent trips for quick booking.

2. Online

■ Visit gpmyride.app.ridewithvia.com.

3. Phone

■ Call 780-830-RIDE (7433) during these hours:

■ Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

■ Saturday: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

■ Sunday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

■ Last booking 30 minutes before end of service.

Booking Details

■ Book up to 3 days before your trip.

■ On day of travel you can ONLY book up to 30 minutes before pick up.

■ Provide your pickup and drop off locations.

■ Select your preferred travel time.

■ Provide extra details if needed (for example: child seat, mobility device, stroller).

■ Arrive on time at the scheduled stop.

■ For trips with multiple transfers, use the “Where’s My Ride” Transit app.

■ Cancel before pickup using the app or by phone.

Frequent Cancellations

Frequent cancellations and no shows will be reviewed and may lead to suspension of service.

Late Night On Demand Service

■ Operates between any two Transit stops in Grande Prairie.

■ Not limited to On-Demand zones.

■ Regular bus fares apply.

Accessibility Features

■ Wheelchair Access: All On-Demand buses have wheelchair lifts or ramps.

■ Operators secure the wheelchair once onboard.

■ Passengers must be able to board independently or bring an attendant.

■ Courtesy Seating: Reserved at the front for riders with mobility aids, disabilities or strollers.

■ Infant Carriers: Children under 9 kg (20 lbs) must travel in a secured infant carrier, buckled with the seatbelt provided.

■ Strollers: Must be folded and stored while on the bus.

■ Service Animals: Accredited service dogs allowed with a lead and harness.

■ Bikes: Each bus has a rack for two standard bicycles.
