PROPOSED FY 2026-2027 BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING SET
Council set a public hearing for September 1 on the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget. The proposed budget includes a tax rate of $0.441281 per $100 of taxable value, which is the No-New-Revenue Rate. The budget prioritizes public safety, staffing, infrastructure and capital needs while utilizing additional funding sources, including CCPD sales tax revenue and grants. OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN EXPANSION
Council approved the addition of two outdoor warning sirens and the relocation of an existing siren to improve emergency notification coverage throughout the City. The new sirens will provide additional coverage in the North Gateway area and the Bellagio development. The project has an approved budget of $150,000 funded through the CIP Fund Balance.
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT APPROVED FOR BRAKE MASTERS
Council approved a conditional use permit allowing a new Brake Masters automotive repair business to operate within the Village at Gateway development. The proposed 5,900-square-foot facility will feature nine service bays and provide minor automotive repair and maintenance services, including tires, brakes, oil changes, diagnostics and other routine repairs. The use does not include collision repair or wrecker services. We look forward to welcoming Brake Masters to Forney!
BJ’S RESTAURANT AND BREWHOUSE SITE PLAN APPROVED
Council approved a site plan for BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse at the Village at Gateway, located north of U.S. Highway 80 and west of N. Gateway Boulevard. The plans include a 6,888-square-foot restaurant, a 1,250-square-foot outdoor dining area and 129 parking spaces.
