COUNCIL WRAP-UP MEETING DATE: JUNE 23, 2026
RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION HOURS AMENDED
Council approved an ordinance updating construction hours within residential areas. Under the new regulations, residential construction activities are limited to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Construction activities are prohibited on Sundays and federal holidays unless an exception is approved by the City Manager or designee. The changes are intended to help balance continued growth and development with residents' quality of life. Commercial construction activities shall be allowed from the hours of 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. Saturday hours shall be 8 a.m. until sunset.
COUNCIL AUTHORIZES LOAN APPLICATION FOR FM 1641 PROJECT
Council approved a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for a low-interest TxDOT State Infrastructure Bank (SIB) loan to fund the relocation of wastewater utilities associated with the FM 1641 expansion project. The financing will help the City move forward with the project in coordination with TxDOT's construction schedule while managing costs through a structured repayment plan.
FIRE DEPARTMENT TO IMPLEMENT FIRST DUE PLATFORM
Fire Chief John Holcomb presented information on the Forney Fire Department's transition to First Due, a comprehensive fire service management platform that will consolidate scheduling, training, inspections, incident reporting, asset management, and other operational functions into a single system. The transition is scheduled to begin July 1, with a targeted go-live date of October 1. The new platform is expected to improve efficiency and support the department's continued growth and service to the community.
COUNCIL APPOINTS MAYOR PRO TEM
Council appointed Sarah Salgado to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for a oneyear term. The Mayor Pro Tem is selected by the City Council and serves as the acting mayor when the mayor is absent or unable to perform the duties of the office. In that role, the Mayor Pro Tem is vested with all powers and responsibilities of the mayor, ensuring continuity in City leadership and governance.
