COUNCIL DISCUSSES RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION HOURS

COUNCIL PROVIDES DIRECTION ON INVESTOR-OWNED HOUSING ADVOCACY Council approved a resolution expressing support for state legislative action regarding institutional investors' purchases of single-family homes. The resolution directs city staff to engage with local and state legislators on potential legislation to limit largescale investor ownership of single-family residences and preserve homeownership opportunities for residents. The resolution also authorizes City staff to formally engage with the Dallas Housing Authority regarding housing voucher concentration and related housing issues affecting the community.
COUNCIL UPDATES HOA REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS
Council approved an ordinance amending the City's subdivision regulations to establish additional HOA requirements for future residential developments. The changes include a 20% rental cap and earlier homeowner control of HOA boards, with a majority of board seats transitioning to residents once 75% of lots have been conveyed or five years after the first phase is platted, whichever occurs first.
